Motorway 27 (A27) is a branch of the A2 motorway (Egnatia Odos) at Kozani, which leads towards Ptolemaida and from there to Florina and the Niki border crossing with North Macedonia. It is part of the European route E65.

Within 2012 tenders were announced for the construction of the 14,5 km section from Florina up to the border crossing with North Macedonia as a motorway. [1] Construction started in 2013 and finished in December 2015. The northern part from Florina to Niki was opened to traffic on 20 May 2016. The section from Ptolemaida to Florina is operational as an expressway (GR-3) and is planned to be upgraded to a motorway sometime until 2025.

Greek National Road 2 Road in Greece

It connects the Albanian border near Florina with the Turkish border near Alexandroupoli. Its section east of Thessaloniki has been replaced by the new A2 motorway. Egnatia Odos or Egnatia Motorway is the Greek part of European route . It is a motorway in Greece that extends from the western port of Igoumenitsa to the eastern Greek–Turkish border at Kipoi. It runs a total of 670 km (420 mi). The megaproject began in 1994 and was completed in 2009 at a cost of €5.93 billion ; it was managed by the state-owned company Egnatia Odos, S.A.

Greek National Road 12

Greek National Road 12 is a single carriageway road in northern Greece. It connects Thessaloniki with Kavala, passing through Serres and Drama. It also serves traffic heading towards the north, to the Greek/Bulgarian border. The section between Thessaloniki and Serres forms part of the Ε79 route. Part of the GR-12 has been replaced by the new motorway 25 and the Egnatia Odos.

Greek National Road 51

Greek National Road 51 is a single carriageway road in northeastern Greece. It connects the Greek National Road 2 near Feres with the Bulgarian border near Ormenio. The main towns on the GR-51 are Didymoteicho and Orestiada. The entire GR-51 is part of the European route E85. Its length is about 128 km. It runs from south to north, parallel to the river Evros.

A1 motorway (Serbia)

The A1 motorway is a motorway in Serbia and at 588 kilometers (365 mi) it is the longest motorway in Serbia. It crosses the country from north to south, starting at the Horgoš border crossing with Hungary and ending at the Preševo border crossing with North Macedonia. As a part of the European route E75 and Pan-European corridor X, connecting 4 of 5 largest Serbian cities, it is the most vital part of the Serbian road network.

Thessaloniki–Bitola railway Balkan railway

The railway from Thessaloniki to Bitola is a 219 kilometres (136 mi) long railway line, that connects the port city Thessaloniki in Greece with Bitola in the Republic of North Macedonia, via Veroia, Edessa, Amyntaio and Florina. The line was opened in 1894 under the name "Société du Chemin de Fer ottoman Salonique-Monastir", when the area was part of the Ottoman Empire. The section between the international border and Bitola is not used anymore, and as of 2013 passenger services are restricted to the section between Thessaloniki and Florina. The easternmost section of the line, Platy–Thessaloniki, is part of the important connection towards Athens and Northern Greece.

Pan-European Corridor VIII European road network

The Corridor VIII is one of the Pan-European corridors. It comprises both road and rail routes. Both commence on the Italian Adriatic coast at Bari or Brindisi, with a ferry crossing to Durrës in Albania. From there the routes cross the southern Balkans into Bulgaria and thence to Varna, on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The road corridor follows the route: Tirana/Durrës/Vlorë – Elbasan – Skopje – Pernik – Sofia – Plovdiv – Burgas – Varna. Although as yet incomplete, it is broadly paralleled by the rail route: Durrës/Vlorë-Lin-Radožda-Kičevo-Skopje-Kumanovo-Beljakovtse-Kriva Palanka-Gyueševo-Sofija-Burgas-Varna
