Mustapha Lachaal

Mustapha Lachaal (born 10 February 1964) is a retired Moroccan runner who saw success on continental level.

He won two medals, silver in 800 and bronze in 1500 metres, at the inaugural 1984 Arab Junior Championships. [1] In the 1500 metres he then finished eighth at the 1987 Mediterranean Games,[ citation needed ] won the bronze medals at the 1988 African Championships and 1989 Jeux de la Francophonie, [2] and the gold medal at the 1989 Arab Championships. [3] He became Moroccan champion in the 800 metres in 1985, and in the 1500 metres in 1985, 1986 and 1987. [4]

His personal best times were 3:35.78 minutes in the 1500 metres, achieved in July 1988 in Verona; 7:53.01 minutes in the 3000 metres, achieved in June 1990 in Reims; and 13:48.59 minutes in the 5000 metres, achieved in April 1991 in Palermo. [2]

Nikolina Pavlova Shtereva is a retired Bulgarian middle-distance runner who specialised in the 800 and 1500 metres. She is best known for her silver medal in 800 metres at the 1976 Summer Olympics, and at the European Indoor Championships she won gold medals in 1976 and 1979 and a bronze medal in 1981. She won fourteen national titles in Bulgaria, and is still the Bulgarian record holder in the 800 metres.

He represented his nation at the Olympic Games in 2004, 2008 and 2012, and has also made four appearances at the World Championships in Athletics.

Niusha Carmen Mancilla Heredia is a Bolivian former middle and long-distance runner. She holds the Bolivian records from 800 metres up to the 15 km road distance, as well as for the 3000 metres steeplechase.

The 1977 Arab Athletics Championships was the inaugural edition of the international athletics competition between Arab countries. It took place in Damascus, Syria, coming one year after the city had hosted the 1976 Pan Arab Games. The absence of Egypt, Algeria and Morocco—the three foremost Arab nations in the sport—meant the level of competition was lower than that seen at the games. Iraq was the dominant nation, winning half the gold medals, and Tunisia was a clear second place with five golds. The hosts, Syria, placed third with a medal haul of twelve. Eight of the twelve participating nations reached the medal table.

The 1984 Arab Junior Athletics Championships was the inaugural edition of the international athletics competition for under-20 athletes from Arab countries. It took place in Casablanca, Morocco from 21–23 July. A total of 38 athletics events were contested, 22 for men and 16 for women. The competition was scheduled to be held in the years between the biennial Arab Athletics Championships for senior athletes.

She won three East German national titles.
