Stock car races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series have been held at North Carolina Speedway from the series' inception in 1982 until 2004 (with a second race between 1984 and 2003, except in 1987), after which Rockingham was removed from both the Busch as well as Nextel Cup Series schedules as a result of the Ferko lawsuit. The track returned to both the Xfinity and the Truck series in 2025.

The Subway 400 was the second race of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series season until 2004, held a week after the Daytona 500. This 400-mile (644 km) annual race was sponsored by Subway and was held at North Carolina Speedway since 1966. From 1966 to 1995, the race distance was 500 miles (805-km) which was shortened to 400 miles starting from the 1996 season.
James Carlyle "Carl" Long is an American professional stock car racing driver, mechanic, and team owner. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 66 Toyota Supra for MBM Motorsports. Robert James Moroso was a NASCAR racing driver who was champion of the NASCAR Busch Series in 1989, and was posthumously awarded the 1990 NASCAR Winston Cup Rookie of the Year award. Andrew Miles Hillenburg is an American former professional stock car racing driver and current team owner and track owner. Brad Keselowski Racing was an American professional stock car racing team that competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He also has been a driver for his own team, last starting a race in 2018. He previously worked for Richard Childress Racing as their Xfinity Series competition director as a crew chief for Stewart-Haas Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing, Turner Motorsports and Evernham / Richard Petty Motorsports.
