The film is a remake of Tamil film Thirupaachi. The film released on 29 December 2006. However, the soundtrack of the film was released on 14 December 2006. The film received mixed reviews and was an average at the box-office praising Kalyan's action role. It also marked Asin's last Telugu film, to date.
