Nanning is the capital and largest city by population of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in Southern China. It is known as the "Green City (绿城) " because of its abundance of lush subtropical foliage. Located in the South of Guangxi, Nanning is surrounded by a hilly basin, with a warm, monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate.

Nanning Wuxu International Airport is an international airport serving Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Autonomous Region, China. It is located 32 km (20 mi) south-west of the centre of the city. The airport was built in 1962, with improvements made in 1990. Terminal 2, with an area measuring 189,000 m2 (2,030,000 sq ft), opened on 25 September 2014. It is designed to handle 16 million passengers annually. The number of passengers reached 1 million in 2002, and jumped to 2 million by 2006. In 2016, 11.56 million passengers used the airport.
The Zuo River is a river of Guangxi, China. It begins from the confluence of the Bằng River and Kỳ Cùng River near Longzhou and joins the You River near Nanning to form the Yong River. These rivers form part of the Pearl River system, which flows into the South China Sea near Guangzhou. The Zuo River historically was the main communication route in the area, linking the villages of the Zuo Valley to each other, to major Chinese centres to the north and east and to southern territories that are now part of Vietnam.

The G7211 Nanning–Youyiguan Expressway, commonly referred to as the Nanyou Expressway, is a 225.06-kilometre-long expressway (139.85 mi) in the Chinese autonomous region of Guangxi that connects the city of Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, and Friendship Pass, known in Chinese as Youyiguan, a border crossing between China and Vietnam. The Friendship Pass is located in the county-level city of Pingxiang, under the administration of the city of Chongzuo. At the border, the expressway connects with the North–South Expressway East in Vietnam. The expressway is designated G7211, and opened on 28 December 2005.

Nanning railway station is the main railway station serving the city of Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. It is located in the city centre, at 82 Zhonghua Road, in the district of Xixiangtang.
The Nanning–Guangzhou high-speed railway, abbreviated as Nan–Guang railway, connects Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, in China. Construction started on November 9, 2008; Nanning to Wuzhou was completed by April 18, 2014, while the full route opened on December 26, 2014. The total cost was about 41 billion RMB. The railway is expected to spur economic development, and increase mobility across the Guangxi and western Guangdong regions.

Nanning–Kunming high-speed railway is a high-speed railway connecting Nanning and Kunming, respectively the capitals of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yunnan Province. It has a total length of 715.8 km (444.8 mi) of electrified double-track railway, built to the Grade 1 standard. Positioned as part of China's "long-term railway network plan", to improve the layout and the development of South-Western China with critical infrastructure, it was Yunnan Province's first high-speed transport corridor to the sea. With future Pan-Asian railways to Laos, Thailand and Vietnam planned or under construction, this railway will be seen as a crucial link between the economic powerhouse of the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone and Indochina under the One Belt-One Road initiative.
The Guangzhou–Kunming passageway is a high-speed railway passage connecting Guangzhou in Guangdong Province and Kunming in Yunnan Province, passing through Nanning en route. Announced in 2016 as part of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network, the line is made up of the existing Nanning–Guangzhou high-speed railway and Nanning–Kunming high-speed railway lines. It is about 986 km in length, and is fully operational as of 28 December 2016.
