Natalia Paderina nee Natalia Akhmertdinova (born November 1, 1975, in Sverdlovsk, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union) is a Russian sport shooter. She won the silver medal in Women's 10m air pistol at the 2008 Summer Olympics. At that event, she shared the podium with bronze medalist Nino Salukvadze of Georgia. Georgia and Russia were at war at the time. They hugged and shook hands, which was seen as a peaceful gesture. [1]

The Women's 10 metre air pistol event at the 2008 Olympic Games took place on August 10 at the Beijing Shooting Range Hall. Natalia Paderina of Russia set a new Olympic record in the qualification round with 391 points out of 400, but entering the final Guo Wenjun was only one point behind and through the last ten shots emerged as the winner. After the competition, Paderina (silver) and Georgian veteran Nino Salukvadze (bronze) posed together; Salukvadze took the opportunity to take a stand for a peaceful solution.

Nino Salukvadze is a Georgian sport shooter. She is a nine-time Olympian and has won medals on three occasions. At age 19 and competing for the Soviet Union at the 1988 Summer Olympics, she won a gold medal in the women's 25-metre sporting pistol competition and silver in the women's 10-metre air pistol competition. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, competing for Georgia, she added to her tally with a bronze medal, also in the 10-metre air pistol event.
