The Near West Side, one of the 77 community areas of Chicago, is on the West Side, west of the Chicago River and adjacent to the Loop. The history of the Near West Side of Chicago includes the founding of Hull House, a prominent settlement house. The Great Chicago Fire started on the Near West Side. The area is home to the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Chicago-Kent College of Law, Stuart School of Business, the United Center and the Illinois Medical District.

Near Westside Historic District is a national historic district located at Elmira in Chemung County, New York. The district includes 480 principal structures over 25-30 blocks in a 77-acre (310,000 m2) district. The district is predominantly residential with only about 15 percent of the structures having commercial or mixed commercial / residential use. A full range of 19th and 20th century styles in domestic architecture is represented in the district.

Hiawatha National Forest is a 894,836-acre (362,127 ha) National Forest in the Upper Peninsula of the state of Michigan in the United States. Commercial logging is conducted in some areas. The United States Forest Service administers this National Forest; it is physically divided into two subunits, commonly called the Eastside 46°14′N 84°50′W and Westside 46°08′N 86°40′W. In descending order of land area it lies in parts of Chippewa, Delta, Mackinac, Alger, Schoolcraft, and Marquette counties. Washington/Southeast 12th Avenue is a light rail station on the MAX Blue Line in Hillsboro, Oregon. Hillsboro's West Precinct is near the station. Opened in 1998, it is the 17th stop westbound on the Westside MAX, and the last eastbound stop prior to crossing the Main Street Bridge. This is the last stop westbound to be on a grade-separated right-of-way. One block west of here, trains enter the median of Washington Avenue to run through downtown Hillsboro.
