The New Bern Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of three counties in the Inner Banks region of eastern North Carolina, anchored by the city of New Bern. The designation of the area was changed from Micropolitan to Metropolitan in 2013. [1]
As of the 2000 census, the μSA had a population of 114,751 (though a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 121,022). [2]
As of the census [3] of 2000, there were 114,751 people, 43,821 households, and 31,724 families residing within the MSA. The racial makeup of the MSA was 69.49% White, 26.03% African American, 0.43% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.64% from other races, and 1.51% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.60% of the population.
The median income for a household in the MSA was $33,644, and the median income for a family was $39,804. Males had a median income of $29,544 versus $20,764 for females. The per capita income for the MSA was $17,448.
The Blacksburg-Christiansburg Metropolitan Statistical Area, formerly the Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford Metropolitan Statistical Area, is a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) as defined by the United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) located in the New River Valley of Southwest Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the MSA had a population of 181,863.
The Lynchburg Metropolitan Statistical Area is a United States Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in the state of Virginia, as defined by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) as of June 2003. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 228,616. In 2009 this was estimated to have risen to 247,447; as of 2016, the Lynchburg MSA was estimated to have a population of 260,320, making it the fifth-largest metro area in the state.
The Alexandria Metropolitan Statistical Area is a metropolitan area in central Louisiana that covers two parishes – Rapides and Grant. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 145,035.

The Wheeling, WV-OH Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of two counties in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia and one in eastern Ohio, anchored by the city of Wheeling. As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 147,950. This represents a decline of 3.4% from the 2000 census population of 153,172.

The Fayetteville, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the US Office of Management and Budget (OMB), is an area consisting of three counties – Cumberland, Harnett, and Hoke – in eastern North Carolina, anchored by the city of Fayetteville. It is served by Interstate 95, Interstate 295, U.S. and state highways, Fayetteville Regional Airport, Amtrak, Greyhound, Megabus and several railroad systems. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 336,609. As of the 2010 census the MSA had a population of 366,383. In 2011 the estimated population was 374,157. The 2019 estimated population is 526,719.
The Parkersburg–Vienna metropolitan area, officially the Parkersburg–Vienna, WV Metropolitan Statistical Area as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of two counties in West Virginia, anchored by the cities of Parkersburg and Vienna. As of the 2020 census, the MSA had a population of 89,490. Prior to the 2020 census, the metro area included the city of Marietta, Ohio and Washington County, which has since been redefined as its own micropolitan area. They now form the Parkersburg–Marietta–Vienna, WV-OH Combined Statistical Area.
The Anchorage Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of the Municipality of Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in the south central region of Alaska.
The Logan Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of two counties – one in Utah and one in Idaho, anchored by the city of Logan. As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 125,442. As of the 2020 Census, the population had risen to 147,908, and further expanded to an estimated 155,362 as of 2022. The Logan metropolitan area is colloquially called Cache Valley, where most of the population resides.

It forms the main part of the larger Rockford–Freeport–Rochelle Combined Statistical Area.

It was upgraded from a Micropolitan Statistical Area (μSA) to a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) by the Office of Management and Budget on November 20, 2008. It was changed from a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) to a Combined Statistical Area (CSA) by the Office of Management and Budget on February 28, 2013.
The city of Portland, Maine, is the hub city of a metropolitan area in southern Maine, United States. The region is commonly known as Greater Portland or the Portland metropolitan area. For statistical purposes, the U.S. federal government defines three different representations of the Portland metropolitan area. The Portland–South Portland–Biddeford, Maine, metropolitan statistical area is a region consisting of three counties in Maine, anchored by the city of Portland and the smaller cities of South Portland and Biddeford. As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 514,098. A larger combined statistical area (CSA), the Portland–Lewiston–South Portland combined statistical area, is defined as the combination of this metropolitan statistical area (MSA) with the adjacent Lewiston–Auburn MSA. The CSA comprises four counties in southern Maine. The Portland–South Portland metropolitan New England city and town area is defined on the basis of cities and towns rather than entire counties. It consists of most of Cumberland and York counties plus the town of Durham in Androscoggin County. The Greater Portland area has emerged as an important center for the creative economy, which is also bringing gentrification.
The Montgomery, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area is a metropolitan area in central Alabama. As of 2020, the MSA had a population of 386,047, ranking it 142nd among United States Metropolitan Statistical Areas. That number is up +3.07% from the 2010 census number of 374,536. In September of 2018 the OMB formed the Montgomery-Selma-Alexander City CSA. It's made up of the 4 county Montgomery MSA and the Selma, AL and Alexander City, AL micropolitan areas. The 7 county CSA has a population of 522,873 as of the 2020 census.
The Savannah metropolitan area is centered on the principal city of Savannah, Georgia. The official name given by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the Savannah, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is used for statistical purposes by the United States Census Bureau and other entities. The OMB defines this area as consisting of Bryan, Chatham, and Effingham counties in Georgia; its total population was 404,798 in the official 2020 U.S. Census, compared to 347,611 in the 2010 census. Savannah is the third most populous of fourteen Georgia metropolitan areas. It was the fastest-growing metro area in the state for the period 2010–2020.
The Hilton Head Island–Bluffton metropolitan area, officially the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton, SC Metropolitan Statistical Area as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is a metropolitan statistical area consisting of the two southernmost counties in the Lowcountry region of South Carolina, centered on the resort town of Hilton Head Island. As of the 2020 census, the MSA had a population of 215,908. Prior to March 2013, the region was considered a micropolitan statistical area.
