The Maneater is the official, editorially independent student news publication of the University of Missouri. The Maneater editorial and advertising staffs are composed entirely of students, with the exception of a professional business adviser. Financially, The Maneater is a non-profit publication funded by advertisers. The newspaper is distributed free of charge, and all aspects of its website remain accessible at no cost to readers. The editorial department of The Maneater remains independent from any student governments and organizations, as well as the Missouri School of Journalism and university itself.
The Minnesota Daily is the campus newspaper of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, published Monday and Thursday while school is in session, and published weekly on Wednesdays during summer sessions. Published since 1900, the paper is currently the largest student-run and student-written newspaper in the United States and the fourth-largest paper in the state of Minnesota, behind the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press. The Daily was named best daily college newspaper in the United States in 2009 and 2010 by the Society of Professional Journalists. The paper is independent from the University, but receives $500,000 worth of student service fees funding.
The National Pacemaker Awards are awards for excellence in American student journalism, given annually since 1927. The awards are generally considered to be the highest national honors in their field, and are unofficially known as the "Pulitzer Prizes of student journalism".
The Daily Trojan, or "DT," is the student newspaper of the University of Southern California. The Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri in Columbia is a journalism school which is one of the oldest formal journalism schools in the world. Founded in 1908, only the Ecole Supérieure de Journalisme de Paris established in 1899 is older. The school provides academic education and practical training in all areas of journalism and strategic communication for undergraduate and graduate students across several media including television and radio broadcasting, newspapers, magazines, photography, and new media. The school also supports a robust advertising and public relations curriculum.
The Daily Tar Heel (DTH) is the independent student newspaper of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was founded on February 23, 1893, and became a daily newspaper in 1929. The paper places a focus on university news and sports, but it also includes heavy coverage of Orange County and North Carolina. In 2016, the paper moved from five days a week in print to four, cutting the Tuesday edition. In 2017, the paper began to print on only Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. All editorial content is overseen by student editors and a volunteer student staff of about 230 people. It is the largest news organization in Orange County.
The GW Hatchet is the student newspaper of the George Washington University. Founded in 1904, the Hatchet is the it is the second-oldest newspaper in Washington, DC, only behind The Washington Post. The Hatchet is often ranked as one of the best college newspapers in the United States and has consistently won awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and from the Associated Collegiate Press. Alumni of the GW Hatchet have included numerous Pulitzer Prize winners, Emmy Award winners, politicians, news anchors, and editors of major publications.
Student Life (StudLife) is the independent student-run newspaper of Washington University in St. Louis. It was founded in 1878 and incorporated in 1999. It is published by the Washington University Student Media, Inc. and is not subject to the approval of the University administration, thus making it the independent student voice.
The Spinnaker is the official student magazine, 24/7 website, radio station, and TV station of the University of North Florida (UNF). The first issue of the magazine/newspaper was published August 17, 1977. The newspaper is published on a weekly basis during the school year, with new issues roughly once a month in the summer. Issues are distributed free around campus and are available in full form on The Spinnaker's website. It is the third student newspaper in the university's history.

The Columbia Missourian is a digital-first newspaper based in Columbia, Missouri, published seven days a week on www.columbiamissourian.com and five days a week in print. The newspaper is affiliated with the Missouri School of Journalism, the world's first school of journalism, and is owned as a 501c3 non-profit under the Missourian Publishing Association. Students enrolled in staff classes produce the newspaper, which is managed by working professionals who also serve as professors.
La Ventana is the yearbook of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The student media organization began its publication in 1925.

The Exonian is the weekly student-run newspaper for Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. It has been printed continuously since April 6, 1878, making it the oldest continuously-published preparatory school newspaper in the country. It is published weekly by its student board and is subject to limited faculty censorship. Many parents and alumni/ae hold subscriptions to the paper, which acts as a forum for the ideas of the Exeter community and prints extensive news, investigative, opinion, sports, and feature articles. In 2011, the newspaper became available to all students free of cost. The current Editor-in-Chief is Suan Lee.

The University Missourian newspaper ran from 1908 to 1916. This newspaper started the same year the University of Missouri School of Journalism opened. The University Missourian provided practical experience for writing articles for journalism students at the university. This would eventually become the Missourian newspaper as it is printed today.
