Okrouhlá is a village and municipality ( obec ) in Písek District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.
Obec is the Czech and Slovak word for a municipality. The literal meaning of the word is "commune" or "community". It is the smallest administrative unit that is governed by elected representatives. Cities are also municipalities. The council is called "obecní zastupitelstvo/obecné zastupiteľstvo" or "zastupitelstvo města/mestské zastupiteľstvo" or "zastupitelstvo městyse", the office is called "obecní úřad/obecný úrad" or "úřad města/mestský úrad" or "úřad městyse". An obec can have its own flag and coat of arms and is composed of one or more cadastral areas. An obec can have several settlements or parts whether villages or hamlets.
Písek District is a part of the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. Its centre is Písek. It has around 70,000 inhabitants and area of 1,138.13 km². People density is 62 heads per 1 km². In this region we can find 71 villages and 5 towns. The neighbouring districts are: České Budějovice District, Tábor District and Strakonice District, from the South Bohemian Region, Příbram District and Benešov District from the Central Bohemian Region.
South Bohemia is an administrative unit (kraj) of the Czech Republic, located mostly in the southern part of its historical land of Bohemia, with a small part in southwestern Moravia. The western part of the South Bohemian Region is former Prachens (Prácheňsko), a huge archaic region with distinctive features with its capital, Písek. Okrouhlá lies approximately 21 kilometres (13 mi) north-east of Písek, 50 km (31 mi) north of České Budějovice, and 75 km (47 mi) south of Prague.
České Budějovice is a statutory city in the Czech Republic.
