Yoga Syahputra, better known as Olga Syahputra, (8 February 1983 – 27 March 2015) was an Indonesian actor, comedian, singer, and television presenter.

Early life

Olga Syahputra was born on 8 February 1983 in Jakarta. He is the eldest of seven brothers of Nur Rachman and Nurshida. Olga's youngest brother, Billy Syahputra, is also a comedian and actor. [1]

Jakarta Special Capital Region in Indonesia

Billy Syahputra is an Indonesian actor, presenter, and comedian. Syahputra had garnered fame for appeared on the Trans TV television show Yuk Keep Smile.

Career

Syahputra was seen in numerous Indonesian TV programs, especially during the annual Ramadhan festival. He was offered a role in the movie Lenong Bocah. The role required him to take advanced training in Padang-Java [ clarification needed ] at the Sanggar Ananda owned by Aditya Gumay. Without money, Olga sold a refrigerator to pay for classes. A friend, Bertrand Antolin, later purchased a new refrigerator for him. [2]

Java island of Indonesia

Java is an island of Indonesia, bordered by the Indian Ocean on the south and the Java Sea on the north. He began to get roles in soap operas, including Kawin Gantung and Si Yoyo . He then became a presenter for Ngidam on SCTV paired with Jeremy Thomas. Olga appeared in Jangan Cium Gue, followed by Extravaganza ABG in 2005. By this time, Olga was becoming well known in Indonesia. His breakout year was 2007 when he appeared with Indra Bekti and Indy Barends at the Ceriwis on Trans TV. [3]

SCTV (Indonesia) Indonesian television station

Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) is an Indonesian free-to-air television network. It was launched on 24 August 1990 in Surabaya, East Java as Surabaya Centra Televisi, broadcasting to the city and its surrounding area. At first, the programming was similar to that of RCTI, using some of their news programs until they could produce their own. On 1 August 1993, SCTV obtained a national license and eventually moved its operations to Jakarta, changing its name to Surya Citra Televisi. Its main offices are located in Central Jakarta, with studios in West Jakarta. It is owned by Surya Citra Media, part of the technology solution company Emtek.

Jeremy Thomas British film producer

Jeremy Jack Thomas, CBE is a British film producer, founder and chairman of Recorded Picture Company. He produced Bernardo Bertolucci's The Last Emperor, which won the 1988 Academy Award for Best Picture. In 2006 he received a European Film Award for Outstanding European Achievement in World Cinema. His father was director Ralph Thomas, while his uncle Gerald Thomas directed all of the films in the Carry On franchise.

Extravaganza is a two-hour comedy variety show taped in Jakarta, Indonesia, which has been broadcast by Trans TV on Saturday and Monday night since its debut on May 30, 2004 until November 28, 2009. At the time, it's the most popular comedy variety show in Indonesia.

In 2008, Olga became a TV presenter of music events on Dahsyat , a morning show on RCTI. His co-presenter since March 2011 was Jessica Iskandar. [4] Olga won the award for Favorite Music/Variety Show Presenter and Favorite Comedian in 2009 Panasonic Awards and 2010 Panasonic Awards. He also starred in such movies as Skandal Cinta Babi Ngepet and Mau Lagi (released as Cintaku Selamanya). [ citation needed ]

<i>Dahsyat</i>

Dahsyat is an Indonesian television show broadcast daily on Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia (RCTI). The first episode of Dahsyat aired on 24 March 2008 to 19 January 2018. The show broadcasts subject matter related to music, and each show is two hours long. It was initially presented by Olga Syahputra, Raffi Ahmad, and Luna Maya. Presenters have since included a variety of actors, directors, comedians, and musicians.

RCTI television network in Indonesia

RCTI is an Indonesian free-to-air television network based in West Jakarta. Its programming consists of news bulletins, sports events and soap operas.

Yesisca Iskandar or known as Jessica Iskandar is an Indonesian actress, model, presenter, singer, comedian and writer. Jessica originated from Jakarta. Jessica's first film was Dealova and her second film was Diva. She is the only daughter and has 4 older brothers. Her father is a Muslim while her mother is a Christian

Olga was reprimanded by the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) for off-color remarks he made while hosting the music show Dahsyat on RCTI on May 1, 2009. [5] [6]

Personal life

Olga was a friend of the actor and presenter Raffi Ahmad and brother of Billy Syahputra. He opened a boutique with his sister, Reny Nurman, named "Rumah Olga Syahputra" located in South Jakarta.

Raffi Ahmad is an Indonesian presenter, actor, and singer. Raffi has been cast in a number of soap operas, television movies and feature films. He is also involved in advertising, but mainly as a host.

Health

In April 2014, Olga Syahputra had meningitis. He was treated at Pondok Indah Hospital and in Germany, before returning to Singapore for more treatment. [7]

Death

Syahputra died of meningitis in Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore, on 27 March 2015. He was 32 years old. [8] [9]
