Boom Boom Satellites were a Japanese electronic music duo consisting of guitarist and vocalist Michiyuki Kawashima and bassist and programmer Masayuki Nakano. They were signed to Sony Music Entertainment Japan, with whom they had released all of their albums in Japan.

Two of the tracks on the album, "Scatterin' Monkey" and "4 A Moment of Silence", were featured on the soundtrack for the 2008 superhero film The Dark Knight.

An alternate best of was released for the American market titled Over and Over to coincide with a series of tourdates in United States. It is a single-disc retooling of 19972007 with a truncated track list.

The song was originally included as the lead track on their fifth album On and later as the first track on their greatest hits album 19972007. In 2009, the Boom Boom Satellites collaborated with Tahj Mowry and Flo Rida to produce a new version of the song featuring new lyrics sung by Mowry and Flo Rida. Co-written by Marquist Johnson and Jonathan Perry. Timbaland contacted gr8! records to set up the collaboration. This version of "Kick It Out" is not currently featured on any Boom Boom Satellites albums, but may be in the future. This was later confirmed when it was decided to include the track on the Boom Boom Satellites "remix best" album Remixed.
"Light My Fire" is a single by Japanese electronica/rock band Boom Boom Satellites. It was released in the UK only on the 'Different Records' label from the UK-only variant of their Photon album. It was released as a standard 12" vinyl and also as a promotional CD. Both versions contain "Sloughin' Blue" from the band's Umbra album as the second track, perhaps indicating the release was intended to promote the band themselves in Europe rather than a particular album.

Embrace is the eighth studio album by Japanese electronic/rock duo Boom Boom Satellites. Released on January 9, 2013, Embrace serves as the band's 15th anniversary release. Songs on the album include their single "Broken Mirror" and the song "Drifter", which was used in Sony's Xperia commercials. The album will also be sold in a deluxe edition that contains a DVD and a USB flash drive. JPU Records released the album in the UK, Europe and Russia on 2 September 2013. The CD version from JPU Records contained an exclusive remix of Snow.

The track is used as the opening theme for the anime Kiznaiver. Due to vocalist and guitarist Michiyuki Kawashima's failing health, "Lay Your Hands on Me" serves as Boom Boom Satellites' final record.
