Hillsboro is the fifth-largest city in the State of Oregon and is the county seat of Washington County. Lying in the Tualatin Valley on the west side of the Portland metropolitan area, the city hosts many high-technology companies, such as Intel, that comprise what has become known as the Silicon Forest. At the 2010 Census, the city's population was 91,611.
The Oregon Electric Railway (OE) was an interurban railroad line in the U.S. state of Oregon that linked Portland to Eugene. Service from Portland to Salem began in January 1908. The Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway purchased the system in 1910, and extended service to Eugene in 1912. Regular passenger service in the Willamette Valley ended in May 1933. Freight operations continued and the railway survived into the 1990s, ultimately as a Burlington Northern feeder. Operation as an electric railroad ended July 10, 1945.
The MAX Blue Line is a light rail service that is part of the MAX Light Rail system in Portland, Oregon, United States. The line, the longest in the system, is owned and operated by TriMet; it travels mainly east–west for 33.3 miles (53.6 km) in the cities of Hillsboro, Beaverton, Portland, and Gresham, serving 51 stations between Hatfield Government Center and Cleveland Avenue. The line is the busiest of the five MAX lines, carrying an average 55,370 riders per day on weekdays in September 2018. It runs for 22½ hours per day from Monday to Thursday, with headways of between fifteen minutes off-peak and five minutes during rush hour. Service runs later in the evening on Fridays and Saturdays, and ends earlier on Sundays. The Blue Line shares its route with the Red Line on the west side, between Beaverton Transit Center and Rose Quarter Transit Center. On the east side, it shares tracks with both the Red Line and the Green Line between Rose Quarter Transit Center and Gateway/Northeast 99th Avenue Transit Center.
Elmonica/Southwest 170th Avenue is a light rail station on the MAX Blue Line in Elmonica, Washington County, Oregon, United States. Named after a former station on the Oregon Electric Railway, it is the eleventh stop westbound on the Westside MAX. The side platform stop is located between Hillsboro to the west and Beaverton to the east.
The Willow Creek/Southwest 185th Avenue Transit Center is a light rail station and transit center on the MAX Blue Line in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. Located near the intersection of Baseline Road and 185th Avenue on the eastern edge of the city, it is the twelfth stop westbound on TriMet's Westside MAX, in the Portland metropolitan area. From 2006 to 2007, the station saw nearly 950,000 passengers.
Quatama, formerly Quatama/Northwest 205th Avenue, is a light rail station on the MAX Blue Line in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. The station is the 13th stop westbound on the Westside MAX from Downtown Portland and includes a park-and-ride lot. Quatama Station is named after the area which includes Quatama Road to the south of the station. Opened in 1998, the stop is near high-tech industries and the Amberglen business park that includes Oregon Health & Science University's West Campus in Hillsboro that includes the Oregon National Primate Research Center. With the renaming of NW 205th Avenue as NE John Olsen Avenue by the City of Hillsboro in 2017, TriMet changed the station's name from its original, longer name.
Orenco is a former company town in Washington County, Oregon, United States, located between Hillsboro and Aloha. The former community of Orenco now forms the Orenco neighborhood in Hillsboro, which is the site of the Orenco Station housing development.
The Hillsboro Main Street Bridge is a concrete tied arch bridge located in Hillsboro, Oregon. The bridge carries light rail traffic on the MAX Blue Line over Main Street and 18th Street. Completed in 1997, the 425-foot-long (130 m) bridge was built with a 78-foot-tall (24 m) arch in the center. It is located between the 12th Avenue Station and the Fair Complex Station.
Cornelius Pass Road is an arterial road over Cornelius Pass in the Tualatin Mountains west of Portland, Oregon, United States, also extending several miles to the south. Running north–south, the road stretches between U.S. Route 30 on the north and Blanton Street, just south of Oregon Route 8, on the south. The road passes through Washington and Multnomah counties, crossing the Tualatin Mountains at Cornelius Pass, 581 feet (177 m) above sea level. TriMet's MAX Light Rail line travels over the road on a bridge.
The Oregon Nursery Company was a nursery company founded and originally operated in Salem, Oregon, United States. The company later expanded to a site in Washington County, Oregon west of Portland. The entire operation was eventually moved to Washington County, where the company founded the town of Orenco. The company went bankrupt in 1927. Its legacy is the Orenco place name that is still widely used in the Hillsboro area.
Sonrise Church is a non-denominational Christian church in Hillsboro in the U.S. state of Oregon. Founded in 1980 as Sonrise Baptist Church, the church is located in the Orenco neighborhood and has about 1,200 worshipers at its main campus, a former industrial building. The main church grounds also house a winter homeless shelter and a community garden.
Orenco Woods Nature Park is a park located in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. The site was formerly nine-hole Orenco Woods Golf Course in the Orenco neighborhood owned by the Hillsboro Elks. The eastern edge is bounded by Cornelius Pass Road and the tracks for the MAX Blue Line form the northern boundary. Rock Creek flows through the 42-acre (17 ha) site between Orchard Park upstream and Noble Woods Park downstream, with the Rock Creek Trail planned to connect all three parks.
The Hillsboro Fire Department, also called Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, is the municipal fire department for the city of Hillsboro in the U.S. state of Oregon. Founded in 1880, the department operates five stations with six companies. The nationally accredited department has 120 members and is led by Chief David Downey.
Washington County Fire District 2 (WCFD2) was a special-purpose government fire fighting and emergency services district in Washington County on the west side of the Portland metropolitan area of Oregon. Established in 1952, it primarily provided fire and emergency medical services in the central portion of the county surrounding Hillsboro, including the city of North Plains. The District had two fire stations when it was absorbed by Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue in 2017.

Cornell Creek Park is a city park in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. Opened in 2016, it has the second dog park in the city after Hondo Dog Park. Located in the Orenco Station neighborhood along Cornell Road, it has just over four acres that is bisected by a small creek.
