Osaka Monorail Main Line (大阪モノレール線, Ōsaka Monorēru sen) is a monorail route of the Osaka Monorail which connects Osaka Airport Station in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture, Senri-Chūō Station in Suita, Minami-Ibaraki Station in Ibaraki, Dainichi Station in Moriguchi, and Kadoma-shi Station in Kadoma.

Overview

The Main Line runs on an elevated line between Osaka International Airport and Kadoma. It opened on June 1, 1990 between Senri-Chuo and Minami-Ibaraki stations. [1] On September 30, 1994 it reached Shibahara-handai-mae Station, on April 1, 1997, Osaka Airport , and on August 22, 1997, its current eastern terminal at Kadoma-shi Station. [1] It is 21.2 km (13.2 mi) long. A single-way trip over the entire Main Line takes about 36 minutes, and costs ¥550.

An 8.9 km (5.5 mi), five-station extension from Kadoma to Uryudo is planned to open in 2029. [2]

The Naniwasuji Line is the tentative name for an underground heavy rail line under construction, which will run north-south through Osaka City, primarily under the avenue Naniwasuji. It has long been pursued by West Japan Railway Company and Nankai Railway in order to connect the Yamatoji Line and Nankai Main Line with Shin-Osaka Station, greatly enhancing both companies' connections to Kansai Airport and Wakayama Prefecture. As of 18 March 2023, the tracks through the northern terminus at Osaka Station and adjoining platforms were opened for Haruka and Kuroshio services as well as ordinary trains on the Osaka Higashi Line.
