P.P. Pandey is a police officer in India. He was Director general of police (DGP) in Gujarat.

Pandey was Joint Commissioner of Police in Ahmedabad when during the 2004 Ishrat Jahan case there were police encounters resulting in death. [1] The Central Bureau of Investigation made an early determination that the deaths were undue and that there was some fault in the police. [1] From April to August 2013 Pandey was away from public view. In August the Gujarat government suspended him from his post and jailed him. [1] In February 2015 Pandey got bail after having been in jail for 18 months. [2] A few days after getting bail the government revoked his suspension and returned him to service. [3]

In April 2016 Panday was appointed as Gujarat DGP. [4] [5] In April 2017 Pandey stepped down from his post as DGP to avoid being removed. [6] [7] Geetha Johri replaced him in this position. [8]

In February 2018 the CBI discharged Pandey from the Ishrat Jahan case saying that there was no evidence to blame him. [9]

In December 2019 the Gujarat government felicitated Pandey along with other police officers in an award ceremony. [10]

The Sohrab Uddin Sheikh encounter case was a criminal case in the Gujarat state after the death of Sohrabuddin Anwarhussain Sheikh on November 26, 2005. A special CBI court acquitted all the 22 accused in the case in the alleged encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife.

Sanjiv Bhatt is a former Indian Police Service officer of the Gujarat-cadre. He is known for his role in filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court of India against the then Chief Minister of the Government of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, concerning Modi's alleged role in the 2002 Gujarat riots. He claimed to have attended a meeting, during which Modi allegedly asked top police officials to let Hindus vent out their anger against the Muslims. However, the Special Investigation Team appointed by the Supreme Court of India concluded that Bhatt did not attend this meeting, and dismissed his allegations.

Ishrat Jahan case Extra-judicial killing by police in Gujarat, India

The Ishrat Jahan case is an ongoing case where officers of the Ahmedabad Police Crime Branch and members of the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB) of Ahmedabad are accused of shooting dead four people on 15 June 2004 in a staged encounter killing.

Dahyaji Gobarji Vanzara, popularly known as D G Vanzara, is the former Deputy Inspector-General of Police from Gujarat, India. He was in judicial custody from 2007 until his bail in 2015 on charges of having conducted a series of extrajudicial killings, while heading the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). He was acquitted in Sohrabuddin case in 2017.

Rahul Sharma is an ex-Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Gujarat cadre turned practicing lawyer with Gujarat High Court. He was inducted into the service in 1992. He played a crucial role in policing operations during the 2002 Gujarat riots. He was seconded to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 2004, and served there for the next three years. Later, he served as the DIG at Rajkot, Gujarat until seeking voluntary retirement from active service in 2015.

G. C. Murmu 14th Comptroller and Auditor General of India

Girish Chandra Murmu is the 14th Comptroller and Auditor General of India and the external auditor of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. He is also the chairman of the United Nations Panel of External Auditors and was the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir till August 2020. He is a 1985 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of Gujarat cadre and was principal secretary to Narendra Modi during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Vipul Aggarwal is a 2001 batch Indian Police Service Officer from the Gujarat Cadre. He is also a physician. Since February 2020 Aggarwal has been Deputy CEO of the National Health Authority.

Lokanath Behera Indian Police Service officer

Lokanath Behera is an Indian Police Service (I.P.S.) officer. He is the current State Police Chief and Director General of Police (DGP) of the Kerala State Police. He was the former Director of Vigilance in the state of Kerala, after T. P. Senkumar IPS was reappointed as the Kerala State Police Chief and Director General of Police following the verdict of the honorable Supreme Court of India. Behera is from Odisha.

Geetha Johri is a retired officer of the Indian Police Service. She was the first woman from Gujarat to become an IPS officer. Johri retired as Gujarat’s police chief and was the highest ranked women officer in the state. She became DIG in 2017, replacing PP Pandey.

Rajnish Rai was a deputy inspector general of police for the Indian Police Service. He began service after graduating with the 1992 cadre. In 2019 he joined the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad as an assistant professor.

Rajkumar Pandian is an Indian Police Service officer. He came to attention over claims in the death of Sohrabuddin Sheikh. From 2016 he was Inspector-general of police in Junagadh, even while the Sohrabuddin case was in courts. In 2018 the Bombay High Court upheld his discharge from this case.

Abhay Chudasma is an officer in the Indian Police Service. He graduated with the 1999 cadre.
