PBA Best Player of the Conference Award

The Philippine Basketball Association's Best Player of the Conference Award is given to the best local (Filipino or part-Filipino) player at the end of each conference (tournament). It was first awarded in the 1994 All-Filipino Conference.

Contents

The Best Import Award is given to the best player (non-Filipino) at the end of each import-laden conference.

Criteria

The method of selecting the Best Player of the Conference is similar on how the season's Most Valuable Player is selected. The criteria used since the 2022–23 PBA season are as follows: [1]

Statistical points (SP) are computed as follows:

In addition, a Filipino player can only be eligible for awards if he played in at least 70% of his team's games. [2]

Danilo Ildefonso is a Filipino former professional basketball player. He currently serves as an assistant coach for both the Converge FiberXers of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the NU Bulldogs of the UAAP. Nicknamed "Danny I", "The Demolition Man" and "Lakáy", Ildefonso was awarded PBA Most Valuable Player in 2000 and 2001, being one of four players to do so in back-to-back seasons. He is also one of the few PBA players to have won all three major MVP awards in the league: regular season, finals, and all-star game MVP. He was picked 1st overall in the 1998 PBA draft and the 2014 PBA Expansion Draft, becoming the only player in the PBA to be drafted first-overall two times and being drafted first-overall in the draft and the expansion draft.

The 2007–08 PBA season was the 33rd season of the Philippine Basketball Association. The season was formally opened on October 14, 2007, at the Araneta Coliseum. The league started the season with the Philippine Cup, or the traditional All-Filipino Conference, while capping off the season with the import-laiden Fiesta Conference.

The Petron Blaze Boosters defeated the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters in seven games to win their 19th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) championship and prevented Talk 'N Text from winning the Grand Slam. Arwind Santos was named the Finals MVP.

The 2013–14 PBA season was the 39th season of the Philippine Basketball Association. The season formally opened on November 17, 2013, and finished on July 9, 2014. The league continued to use the three-conference format, starting with the Philippine Cup, or the traditional All-Filipino Conference. The Commissioner's Cup and the Governors' Cup is the second and third conferences for this season. Originally scheduled to end on August 13, the season schedule was shortened to allow more time for Gilas Pilipinas to prepare for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the 2014 Asian Games.

The 2016–17 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup Finals was the best-of-7 championship series of the 2016–17 PBA Philippine Cup, and the conclusion of the conference's playoffs. The San Miguel Beermen and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel competed for the 39th Philippine Cup championship and the 119th overall championship contested by the league.
