Pedro Aquiles Messone Rivas (6 June 1934 – 1 June 2023) was a Chilean folk singer and actor, whose career spanned almost 60 years.
Born in Temuco, the son of a company manager, Messone grew up in Valparaíso. [3] While a student at the Seminario San Rafael, he became friends with Luis Urquidi, with whom he co-founded the neo-folk ensemble Los Cuatro Cuartos . [3] Moving to Santiago, he made his acting debut in an amateur dramatic company, before making his major professional debut in the drama La pérgola de las flores with the Teatro Ensayo de la Universidad Católica. [3] In 1964, torn between his commitments as an actor and musician, he left his group and started a short-lived ensemble, Los de Las Condes, which had a major hit with "El corralero". [3]
In 1966, Messone started his solo career with the album El solitario, which was a massive success thanks to the eponymous song, as well as the hits "Pa' mar adentro", "El ovejero" and "El cigarrito". [3] He took part in several editions of the Viña del Mar International Song Festival. [3] His last hit was "La tejedora" (1982). [3]
A supporter of Augusto Pinochet, Messone campaigned for the Yes at the 1988 Chilean national plebiscite. [4] In 1992, he ran for mayor of Buin with the Independent Democratic Union party, without being elected. [4]
In 2018, Messone received the Premio a la Música Nacional Presidente de la República for his career. [3] Messone died on 1 June 2023, at the age of 88. [3]

His writings appeared first in the Anthology of the Generation of 1950, compiled by Enrique Lafourcade, a well-known Chilean writer.
Lorenzo de Monteclaro is a singer of regional Mexican music. He was born with the name of Lorenzo Hernández in Cuencamé de Ceniceros, Durango, and sang for the first time on radio in the late 1950s on a Sunday talent contest called "Aficionados de los Ejidos" on XEDN. His signature subgenre is norteño-sax, but he has also recorded songs with banda and mariachi. He has sung on more than 90 albums and acted in almost 50 films and continues singing even after seven decades. His youngest son, Ricardo de Monteclaro, is also the drummer, who plays in his father's band.

1976, also known as Chile '76 in North America, is a 2022 Chilean-Argentine drama film directed by Manuela Martelli in her directorial debut, with a screenplay co-written by Martelli and Alejandra Moffat. The film premiered on 26 May 2022, in the Directors' Fortnight section at the Cannes Film Festival and was released in Chilean cinemas on 20 October 2022. It was nominated in the Best Ibero-American Film category at the 37th Goya Awards.
