Vasily Ivanovich Chuikov was a Soviet military officer. He was the commander of the 62nd Army during the Battle of Stalingrad. Following World War II, Chuikov was Chief of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany (1949–53), commander of the Kiev Military District (1953–60), Chief of the Soviet Armed Forces and Deputy Minister of Defense (1960–64), and head of the Soviet Civil Defense Forces (1961–72).
Literary Encyclopedia is a 12-volume encyclopedia published in the USSR from 1929 until 1939. It contains more than 5000 entries with a focus on Russian and Soviet authors, as well as literary schools, trends, directions, and literary concepts. The 10th volume was delayed by Soviet censors in 1937, rumored to be a result of concerns about the article "Russian literature" The series was halted in 1939 after the publication of the 11th volume. The 12 volume was published later based on drafts.

Olga Álava from Ecuador, crowned her successor Tereza Fajksová, a 23-year-old university student and model from Brno in Czech Republic at the end of the event. Miss Earth-Air went to the 23-year-old German-Filipino fashion designer and model, Stephany Stefanowitz of the Philippines, Miss Earth-Water was awarded to a Maracaibo native Osmariel Villalobos, a 24-year-old broadcasting company talent from Venezuela, and Miss Earth-Fire was given to the 22-year-old, a student and model from Minas Gerais, Brazil. 80 contestants competed for the crown in this year's edition.
