Psychopedagogy

Psychopedagogy is a combination of two main branches of study, pedagogy and psychology.

Some of the most influential authors in this field are Jean Piaget, David Ausubel, Jerome Bruner and Lev Vygotsky. Important contributions have also been made by Mary Warnock.

It was founded in 1620. Colegio de San Juan de Letran has the distinction of being the oldest college in the Philippines and the oldest secondary institution in Asia. The school has produced Philippine presidents, revolutionary heroes, poets, legislators, members of the clergy, jurists, and it is also one of the only Philippine schools that has produced several Catholic saints who lived and studied on its campus. The school's patron saint is St. John the Baptist. The campus contains two statues, representing the two foremost alumni in the fields of secular and religious service: former Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon and Vietnamese Saint Vicente Liem de la Paz.

Estanislao Zuleta was a Colombian philosopher, writer and professor. He was known for his writings, work at various universities, and many lectures. He wrote treatises and talked about ancient and modern thinkers, and historical analyses about Latin American culture, the Latin American economy, philosophy, psychology and education. He was an adviser for the United Nations, the Colombian Ministry of Agriculture, the Colombian Institute for Agrarian Reform (Incora), and former president Belisario Betancur Cuartas, and was also a writer for the Crisis Magazine of Medellín. He was awarded the Honoris Causa in psychology of University of Valle in 1980. The Estanislao Zuleta Foundation was created after his death to continue to promote his legacy.

The Seville Statement on Violence is a statement on violence that was adopted by an international meeting of scientists, convened by the Spanish National Commission for UNESCO, in Seville, Spain, on 16 May 1986. Dolors Bassa i Coll is an educator, psychopedagogist and Spanish politician from Catalonia who held the position of Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Families in the Generalitat de Catalunya until Spain dismissed the Catalan government on 27 October 2017. She is known for her syndicalist career in the major Spanish trade union, Unión General de Trabajadores. Since March 2018 she was remanded in custody, without bail, by order of the Supreme Court of Spain, accused of sedition and rebellion. She was sentenced on October 14, 2019, to 12 years in prison for sedition, as being responsible for devoting several thousand public schools as polling stations in the 1 October 2017 referendum. She was freed in June 2021 following a government pardon.

Maria Teresa Bassa Poropat is an Italian politician, who served as a President of the Province of Trieste from 24 April 2006 to 31 December 2016. She graduated in psychology at the University of Trieste, specialized in psychopedagogy at the University of Turin, and taught at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Trieste. She was a private judge of the juvenile court of the province of Trieste. Then, she was Councilor for Education, Youth and Equal Opportunities of the Municipality of Trieste from 1996 to 2001. She was a Regional Councilor of Friuli Venezia Giulia from 1 July 2003 to 27 April 2006.
