Qisheng

The Qisheng (Traditional: 棋聖; Simplified: 棋圣; Pinyin: Qíshèng) is a Go competition in China organized by the Chinese Weiqi Association. The word qíshèng means "Go saint", similar to the Japanese Kisei and the Korean Kiseong.

The Qisheng consists of preliminary knockout tournaments to determine the challenger to the previous year's winner, followed by a best-of-three title match. The winner receives 800,000 RMB in prize money, and the runner-up receives 200,000 RMB. Games are played under Chinese rules, with 2 hours of main time and five 60-second byoyomi periods per player. AlphaGo versus Fan Hui was a five-game Go match between European champion Fan Hui, a 2-dan professional, and AlphaGo, a computer Go program developed by DeepMind, held at DeepMind's headquarters in London in October 2015. AlphaGo won all the five games. This was the first time a computer Go program had beaten a professional human player on a full-sized board without handicap. This match was not disclosed to the public until 27 January 2016 to coincide with the publication of a paper in the journal Nature describing the algorithms AlphaGo used.

The Wu Qingyuan Cup, also known as the Go Seigen Cup or Wu Qingyuan Cup World Women's Weiqi Tournament, is an international women's Go tournament. It was created in 2018 and is held annually. The tournament is named after Wu Qingyuan, and held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China, his birthplace. It is organized by the Chinese Weiqi Association and the Fuzhou municipical government.
