Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences (RUMS), is located in the city of Rafsanjan in Kerman province, south central of Iran.
The origins of higher education in Rafsanjan date back to 1982, when a training center for oral and dental health technicians was established, offering associate-degree programs. In 1986, educational activities expanded with the creation of the Rafsanjan School of Medical Sciences, which initially operated under the supervision of Kerman University of Medical Sciences. [1]
Following the approval to upgrade the dental health training center to a full faculty of dentistry, the independent Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences (RUMS) was formally founded in 1992. [2]
Since its establishment, the university has gradually expanded its academic programs. The School of Medicine has graduated 18 cohorts of general medical students, and the university currently enrolls approximately 1,400 students across various disciplines. [3]
Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences includes seven vice-chancellorships, five faculties, four hospitals, and two health networks in Rafsanjan and Anar. The university also oversees several research centers and is establishing a new research institute. Its faculties offer programs in medicine, dentistry, nursing and midwifery, allied health sciences, and public health. More than 200 faculty members currently teach across these departments. [4]
