The Requena Province is one of the eight provinces in the Loreto Region of Peru. It was created by Law No. 9815 on July 2, 1943 by president Manuel Prado Ugarteche. [1] Its territory is part of the Amazon Rainforest; as such, it is characterized by high temperatures, heavy rainfall and a wide diversity of plants and animals. [2]
The province is divided into eleven districts.

Maynas is one of the eight provinces in the Loreto Region in northeastern Peru. Its capital, Iquitos, is also Loreto's regional capital and the largest city in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest.

As a result, there is a great diversity of climates ranging from hot and dry at lower altitudes to cold and rainy at higher levels. Herding is an important economic activity thanks to the existence of extensive pastures. Its main product is cow's milk which is either sold outside the province or transformed into dairy products such as cheese. There are several gold mines in production in the higher regions of the province. There's also an important handicraft industry mainly devoted to textiles made out of cotton or wool.

It has a mountainous territory which varies in height from 1,500 to more than 4,000 meters (5,000–13,000 ft) above sea level. The Tapiche Reserve is a private conservation property located in Tapiche District, Requena Province, Loreto Region in Peru. The 1,540 hectare reserve, accessible only by waterway, is located 340 km up river from Iquitos on the Tapiche River. The reserve comprises several types of lowland Amazonian forests, including igapo, varzea, and terra firme. The reserve represents one of the few areas in the Amazon basin where these forest types can be found in close proximity. The reserve spans both sides of the Tapiche River east of the Ucayali River; and is home to endangered species such as jaguar, bald uakari, giant armadillo, the Brazilian tapir, the Amazonian manatee, harpy eagle, cedar, mahogany and others. Inside the reserve, there are bodies of water and swamps including lakes, canals, oxbows, aguajales, and restingas. It has annual temperatures ranging from 25 °C (77 °F) to 33 °C (91 °F) and an annual rain fall of about 3 meters, permitting an immense variety of species to thrive in the area. A land survey and rapid species inventory of Tapiche Ohara's Reserve was performed in 2011. The species inventory is reproduced below in table format. The reserve is designated by the Peruvian government as a Private Conservation Area (PCA).

Jenaro Herrera is the capital of the Jenaro Herrera District in the Requena Province of Peru. The village was founded in 1954 by Manuel Gordon Magne, a lieutenant colonel of the Guardia Civil del Perú. It is named for Jenaro Herrera, the first lawyer in Loreto, the region that encompasses the village.
