Richard James (born 9 March 1956) is an Australian academic and former sprinter who competed mainly in the 100 metres.
He was an Australian Junior 100 metre champion, and represented Australia in 1979 in the World Cup where he finished 6th in the 100 metres and 7th in the 4 × 100 metres relay. In 1980 he won the Australian 100 metre title. [1]
He is a prominent Australian academic in the field of higher education research. He holds a Chair in Higher Education at the University of Melbourne and is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Director of the Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education. [2]

Until 19 June 2018, he served as Advisor to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, with the status of a Cabinet Minister. Mattoo is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the German Institute for Global and Area Studies and was recently elected unanimously as its Deputy Chair. He was the founding CEO of the Australia India Institute at the University of Melbourne and served as chairman of the governing board of Miranda House, University of Delhi, the highest-ranked women's college in India, and served as Chair of Kirori Mal College earlier He has also been a member of the Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing. In 2002, he was the youngest person to be appointed as vice chancellor of a public university in independent India. Mattoo's advice on policy matters has been sought across political parties and across governments, including by Prime Ministers Atal Behari Vajpayee and Dr Manmohan Singh. Following the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, he has offered a political roadmap for securing the future of Jammu and Kashmir. He has been a persistent advocate of multiculturalism and of reconciliation between Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Muslims.

Sir Leslie Harold Martin, was an Australian physicist. He was one of the 24 Founding Fellows of the Australian Academy of Science and had a significant influence on the structure of higher education in Australia as chairman of the Australian Universities Commission from 1959 until 1966. He was Professor of Physics at the University of Melbourne from 1945 to 1959, and Dean of the Faculty of Military Studies and Professor of Physics at the University of New South Wales at the Royal Military College, Duntroon, in Canberra from 1967 to 1970. He was the Defence Scientific Adviser and chairman of the Defence Research and Development Policy Committee from 1948 to 1968, and a member of the Australian Atomic Energy Commission from 1958 to 1968. In this role he was an official observer at several British nuclear weapons tests in Australia.

Simon Marginson is an Australian academic who researches higher education. He held professorships in education or higher education at Monash University (2000–06) and the University of Melbourne (2006–13) before moving to the United Kingdom as professor of international higher education at University College London (2013–18). As of 2021, he is the director of the ESRC/OFSRE Centre for Global Higher Education and professor of higher education at the University of Oxford.
