Rie Tanaka(田中 理恵,Tanaka Rie, born January 3, 1979, in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan) is a Japanese voice actress [1] [2] [3] [4] and singer. Notable among her numerous roles in anime are Lacus Clyne in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny , Chi in Chobits , Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke in Strike Witches and Suigintou in the anime adaptation of Rozen Maiden . [5] In video games, she provides the voice of title character Neptune in the Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise.

Music career

As well as being an actress, Tanaka is also a singer. Tanaka has released three albums: Garnet, 24 Wishes and Kokoro, but did not gain much success. Tanaka is also a member of the Steel Angels, a singing trio composed of the three lead voice actors of Steel Angel Kurumi , together with Atsuko Enomoto and Masayo Kurata. Tanaka published a photo collection called Irodorie in May 2009.

<i>Steel Angel Kurumi</i> manga

Steel Angel Kurumi is a Japanese manga and anime series following the adventures of its titular character created by Kaishaku. Directed by Naohito Takahashi, animated by Oriental Light and Magic and produced by Pony Canyon with character designs by Yuriko Chiba and Yuji Ikeda and music by Toshihiko Sahashi, it has been translated and released in North America by ADV Films. In 2008 Crunchyroll announced it had partnered with Pony Canyon to release all Steel Angel Kurumi series' for streaming and download.

Atsuko Enomoto is a Japanese voice actress and singer. Her debut voice acting role was Yukino Miyazawa from Kare Kano in 1998, which she auditioned for while still in high school. Her debut single was Be My Angel the opening theme of the 2001 anime Angelic Layer. She was affiliated with talent agency 81 Produce until 2015. Her former husband was voice actor Mark Ishii, who is younger than her by 12 years. In 2018 she discussed harassment in the industry and how she desperately wanted to quit in her first years as a voice actress.

Masayo Kurata is a Japanese voice actress. Some of her major roles are Koyomi from Girls Bravo, Shinobu Maehara in Love Hina, Tomoe Kashiwaba in Rozen Maiden, Karinka from Steel Angel Kurumi, and Subaru Mikage in Comic Party. In video games she voices Kurara in Purikura Daisakusen, Ai Senou in Hourglass of Summer, Chizuru Sakaki in the Rumbling Hearts / Muv-Luv visual novels, and Souffle Rossetti in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.

Personal life

Tanaka married fellow Japanese voice actor Kōichi Yamadera on June 17, 2012. [6] She had a fan club called Cafe de Rie that ran until 2012. [7] On June 23, 2013, a man with a knife intruded a Neptunia promotion where Tanaka was present, [8] yelling "Give me Tanaka! I am the victim!" In the hustle Tanaka fell and bruised her knee. After the incident, she took a break from Twitter [9] [10] [11] and later returned in 2015. [12] In August 2018, they announced they have filed for divorce. [13]

Kōichi Yamadera is a Japanese actor, voice actor, narrator and singer from Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture. He graduated from Tohoku Gakuin University's economics school and is currently affiliated with Across Entertainment. Before that, he was affiliated with the Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society.

Azumanga Daioh is a Japanese yonkoma comedy manga series written and illustrated by Kiyohiko Azuma, which was serialized in MediaWorks' Dengeki Daioh magazine between 1999 and 2002. Three additional chapters were published in Shogakukan's Monthly Shōnen Sunday in May 2009 to celebrate the manga's tenth anniversary. The manga was first released in English by ADV Manga, and was later re-issued by Yen Press.

In video game franchises, he voices Ieyasu Tokugawa and Kenshin Uesugi in Samurai Warriors, Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil franchise, and Kazuya Mishima in the first, second and fourth installments of the Tekken series.

Atsuko Satō, known professionally as Atsuko Tanaka, is a Japanese voice actress associated with Mausu Promotion. Her most-known voice role is Motoko Kusanagi in the Ghost in the Shell film and franchise and Konan in the Naruto series. She also voices Caster in the Fate/stay night series, Lisa Lisa in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Claudette in Queen's Blade, Francis Midford in Black Butler, and Karura in Utawarerumono. In video games, she voices title characters Lara Croft in the Japanese dub of the Tomb Raider games, and Bayonetta in the Bayonetta: Bloody Fate film adaptation and Bayonetta 2. She attended the Tokyo Announcement Academy where she studied voice training in 1991. In 2012, a Biglobe poll named her the voice actress with the sexiest voice.

Rie Kugimiya is a Japanese voice actress and singer affiliated with I'm Enterprise.

Tsundere

Tsundere is a Japanese term for a character development process that describes a person who is initially cold before gradually showing a warmer, friendlier side over time. The word is derived from the terms tsun tsun (ツンツン), meaning to turn away in disgust, and dere dere (デレデレ) meaning to become 'lovey dovey'. Originally found in Japanese bishōjo games, the word is now part of the otaku moe phenomenon, reaching into other media such as maid cafés, anime, manga, novels, and even mass media. The term was made popular in the visual novel Kimi ga Nozomu Eien.

Yutaka Tanaka is a Japanese manga artist known for his risque slice-of-life stories. Two of his works, Ningyo Hime no Kisu and Tsuki to Sakuranbo, have been published in French by Le Temeraire.

Nao Tōyama Japanese voice actress and singer

Nao Tōyama is a Japanese voice actress and singer affiliated with the agency Intention. Before joining Intention, she was affiliated with Arts Vision. She debuted as a voice actress in 2010, and played her first main role that year as Kanon Nakagawa in the anime series The World God Only Knows. She is also known for her roles as Chitoge Kirisaki in Nisekoi, Yui Yuigahama in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, Karen Kujō in Kin-iro Mosaic, and Rin Shima in Laid-Back Camp. In 2019, she won the Best Supporting Actress Award with Yū Serizawa and the Game Award in the 13th Seiyu Awards.

Asami Imai Japanese voice actress and singer

Asami Imai is a Japanese voice actress and singer affiliated with Early Wing. She debuted as a voice actress in 1999 and as singer in 2009 by releasing her first single "Day by Day / Shining Blue Rain" under the 5pb. Records label. She is also well known for giving voices to Chihaya Kisaragi in THE IDOLM@STER, Kurisu Makise in Steins;Gate, Tsubaki Yayoi in BlazBlue, and Ayumi Shinozaki in Corpse Party. She also coupled with Eri Kitamura and formed the music unit Artery Vein which is also under the 5pb. label.

Maaya Uchida is a Japanese actress, voice actress and singer who works for I'm Enterprise. In February 2014, she won the Best New Actress Award in the 8th Seiyu Awards. She debuted as a singer under Pony Canyon with the song Soushou no Innocence, which is produced by Tomita Akihiro. Her younger brother is Yūma Uchida, who is also a voice actor working in the same company. She made television appearances, including in Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger with the role of Hakase Hiroyo.

Haruka Ishida is a former member of the Japanese idol girl group AKB48. She has been a co-host on the variety show Dream Creator on TV Tokyo. and has voiced on a handful of anime shows, including Nobunaga the Fool where she voiced Bianchi Țepeş.

Izumi Kitta Japanese voice actress

Izumi Kitta is a Japanese voice actress best known as the voice of Cordelia Glauca in the media franchise Tantei Opera Milky Holmes. Her first maxi single, "Colorful Garden" was released on April 6, 2011. Kitta attended Dwango Creative School, a voice actor training school in 2007, started her career as a voice actress from 2008. After leaving Dwango Artist Production, she is now affiliated with Hibiki Cast. She voices title character Tomoko Kuroki in the WataMote anime and Misaki Tokura in the Cardfight!! Vanguard series. In 2017 she had her first manga, Liberty, published in yuri magazine Galette, illustrated by Moto Momono.

Emi Nitta is a Japanese voice actress and singer from Nagano Prefecture affiliated with the talent agency Difference. She became a voice actress after passing an audition organized by talent agency S-inc. She officially transferred to Difference on 1 September 2017. She is best known for her roles as Honoka Kōsaka in Love Live! and Tokoha Anjō in Cardfight!! Vanguard G. She made her anime voice acting debut as Ricca Morizono in Da Capo III. She made an appearance at the Bangkok Comic Con in July 2014.

<i>Seiyus Life!</i> Japanese manga series

Seiyu's Life! is a comedy 4-panel dōjin manga series. The manga is written by the voice actress Masumi Asano, with art by Kenjiro Hata, and is released under the circle name Hajimemashite. The manga was launched at Comiket 81 in December 2011, with further releases at each subsequent Comiket. An anime television series adaptation by Gonzo aired between July and September 2015.

<i>Tanaka-kun is Always Listless</i> 2016 film

Tanaka-kun is Always Listless is an ongoing Japanese slice of life comedy shōnen web manga series written and illustrated by Nozomi Uda. It's published by Square Enix, with serialization on Gangan Online website and with twelve volumes released, as of March 2019. An anime adaptation by Silver Link aired from April 9 to June 25, 2016.

Reina Ueda is a Japanese voice actress and singer from Toyama Prefecture. She is affiliated with 81 Produce. Beginning her career as a voice actress in 2012, her first main role was Naru Sekiya, the protagonist of the 2014 anime series Hanayamata. She is also known for her roles as Mira Yurisaki in Dimension W, Hane Sakura in Bakuon!!, Mallow in Pokémon: Sun & Moon, Shiori Shinomiya in Sakura Quest, and Akane Shinjō in SSSS.Gridman. She was one of the recipients of the Best New Actress Award in the 9th Seiyu Awards in 2015. She released a mini-album in 2016, and her first solo single in 2018.

Rie Takahashi is a Japanese voice actress and singer from Saitama Prefecture who is represented by the agency 81 Produce. Having debuted as a voice actress in 2013, she played her first main role as Futaba Ichinose in the anime Seiyu's Life!, where she also became part of the musical unit Earphones.

Yuma Uchida is a Japanese voice actor and singer who works for I'm Enterprise. His big roles have included Yuuma Kousaka in Gundam Build Fighters Try, Nagisa Kiryū in Classroom Crisis, Eishirō Yabuki in The Asterisk War, Hayate Immelmann in Macross Delta, Ein Dalton in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Iori Kitahara in Grand Blue, and Ash Lynx in Banana Fish. In 2017, he received the 11th Seiyu Awards for Best Male Newcomer with Setsuo Itō and Yusuke Kobayashi. In 2019, he won Best Male Lead Actor in the 13th Seiyu Awards. He made his singing debut in May 2018 under the King Records label. His older sister is voice actress Maaya Uchida who also works in the same company.

Megumi Toda is a Japanese voice actress from Tokyo. She is affiliated with Kenyu Office. She was regular on the Animate Pia Channel which was broadcast on Nico Nico. Her major roles include Hajime Shinoda in New Game!, Kiitan in Etotama and Yuzu Iizuka in Sakura Trick. As part of the Etotama cast, she sang on the theme song under the group Soruaru BOB on a single called "blue moment" that reached number 49 on the Oricon charts. She also sang the theme songs for New Game! under the group forfolium; the singles "Sakura" and "Now Loading!!" reached numbers 33 and 42 on Oricon. As part of the Idolmaster cast, she sang on one of the singles which reached number 22.
