Rizabawa (24 September 1966 – 13 September 2021) was an Indian actor who works predomiantly in Malayalam films and television. His breakthrough role was as a villain in the 1990 film In Harihar Nagar . Since then, he acted as villain in several films in 1990s. [1] [2] [3]

Early life

Career

Rizabawa started his career in theatre. Even though Rizabawa played the hero in his debut film Dr. Pasupathy directed by Shaji Kailas, his first noticed role in Malayalam films was from the director Duo Siddique-Lal in the movie In Harihar Nagar. His role John Honai became a breakthrough role for him, a villain. [4] He later moved into the small-screen industry, acting in a number of Malayalam serials. He continued to be a villain in many other films, including Irikku MD Akathundu, Vakkeel Vasudev , Thiruthalvaadi , and Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji . Later in his career, Rizabawa acted in the Malayalam film industry in supporting roles. [5] He has also acted in many serials from 2002 until his death.

Personal life

He has a daughter. He died from a kidney-related illness on 13 September 2021 and also tested positive for Covid-19. [6]

In Harihar Nagar is a 1990 Indian Malayalam-language comedy thriller film written and directed by Siddique-Lal. The film, set in the fictional locality of Harihar Nagar follows four unemployed bachelors: Mahadevan (Mukesh), Govindan Kutty (Siddique), Appukuttan (Jagadeesh) and Thomas Kutty (Ashokan) and their attempts to woo their new neighbour. It also stars Rizabawa, Kaviyoor Ponnamma and Rekha, with Suresh Gopi and Sai Kumar making cameo appearances. The music was composed by S. Balakrishnan. In Harihar Nagar was released on 20 June 1990. The film was the fourth highest grossing film of the year and ran for more than 100 days in theatres. The film is widely celebrated as one of the most popular Malayalam comedy films ever and has over the years gained a cult following, spawning two sequels — 2009's 2 Harihar Nagar, and 2010's In Ghost House Inn — and remakes in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu. Its success also spawned a series of unrelated low budget comedy films featuring the principal cast, in the years that followed.

Mukesh Madhavan, known mononymously as Mukesh, is an Indian actor, film producer, television presenter, and politician who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema besides also having sporadically appeared in Tamil-language films. In a film career spanning four decades, he has acted in over 260 Malayalam films. His 1996 film Kaanaakkinaavu premiered at the IFFI and won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. Siddique–Lal are a screenwriter and director duo, consisting of Siddique and Lal. They were active together in Malayalam cinema during 1986–1995. They were initially assistant directors to director Fazil. Particularly known for making films in the comedy genre, the films that came out of the partnership include Ramji Rao Speaking (1989), In Harihar Nagar (1990), Godfather (1991), Vietnam Colony (1992), and Kabooliwala (1993). All of these films were some of the biggest hits in Malayalam cinema and many of them have a cult following in Kerala. The duo broke off in 1993, but later continued their association by Lal producing some of the films directed by Siddique. The duo reunited again after two decades in 2016 to co-write the film King Liar which was directed by Lal.

Indrans is an Indian actor and former costume designer, who appears in Malayalam films.His mentor was Shiyas M S, a law college student. He started his film career as a costume designer and actor in 1981 and got a breakthrough in 1994 with the comedy movie CID Unnikrishnan B.A., B.Ed. Indrans was popular for his comedy roles in the 1990s and 2000s. He found success in playing character roles in his later career and won the Kerala State Film Award – Special Mention for his performance in Apothecary in 2014. In 2018, Indrans won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Aalorukkam. It is the sequel to In Harihar Nagar (1990).The film chronicle the story of four very close friends Mahadevan (Mukesh), Govindan Kutty(Siddique), Appukuttan (Jagadish) and Thomas Kutty (Ashokan). The film was a blockbuster at the box office. The final sequel and third movie in the trilogy, In Ghost House Inn was released in 2010.

The film's name gives the impression that it is a sequel to the comedies "In Harihar Nagar", "2 Harihar Nagar" and "In Ghost House Inn", but it is completely unconnected.
