The Bangladesh Armed Forces are the military forces of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. They consist of the three uniformed military services:the Bangladesh Army,the Bangladesh Navy and the Bangladesh Air Force. The Armed Forces are under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Defence of the Government of Bangladesh,and are directly administered by the Armed Forces Division of the Prime Minister's Office. The President of Bangladesh serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Bangladesh has the third-largest defence budget in South Asia,The Bangladeshi military is the 37th strongest in the world and the third most powerful military force in South Asia. Border Guard Bangladesh and Bangladesh Coast Guard are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. during peacetime,but during wartime they fall under the command of Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy respectively.

Bangladesh Navy is a front line disaster management force in Bangladesh. The navy takes part in United Nations peacekeeping.
Mosharraf Hossain Khan was a Bangladesh Navy admiral who served as the chief of the Bangladesh Navy from 7 November 1973 to 3 November 1979. After the Bangladesh war of Independence,Admiral Khan was appointed as the 1st chief of the naval staff of the Bangladesh Navy in November 1973 by the Prime Minister Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. During his tenure,Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 10 December 1974 commissioned Bangladesh Navy's largest naval base BNS Issa Khan and also handed over "naval ensign" to Bangladesh Navy on the same day.

Admiral M. Farid Habib,was the 13th Chief of Staff of the Bangladesh Navy. He is the first ever four-star Admiral in the history of Bangladesh Navy. Now He serves as a Chairman of Trustee Board of University of Scholars.
Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed was an admiral in the Bangladesh Navy and the former Chief of Naval Staff. He previously served as the Director of Coast Guard Operations and commander of Chittagong Naval Command (COMCHIT). He also served in Naval Headquarters as Director of Personnel Services and Secretary to the Chief of Naval Staff. Inter Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) announced Ahmed's nomination to succeed Admiral Farid Habib. Ahmed began serving as the 15th Chief of Naval Staff on 27 January 2016.

Vice Admiral Elenjikal Chandy Kuruvila,PVSM,AVSM was a former Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He was the Fleet commander of the Western Fleet during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971,for which he was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal. He later led the Southern Naval Area and then served as the chairman and managing director of Mazagon Dock Limited.
Mohammad Shahjahan is a retired two star admiral of Bangladesh who was formerly posted at National Defence College as Senior Directing Staff (Navy). Prior to that,he was the Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority. Earlier he served as the chairman of the Mongla Port Authority. Prior to this appointment,he served as chairman of Mongla Port Authority and before that commander of Bangladesh Navy Fleet. He also served as director of naval intelligence (DNI) at Naval Headquarters. He elevated to the rear admiral rank from commodore on 25 January 2022.
