S M Moniruzzaman OSP, ndc, ncc, psc is a two star admiral of the Bangladesh Navy and the incumbent chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority. Previously, he was the commander of Bangladesh Naval Fleet (COMBAN). [1] Prior joining here, he had been serving as the managing director of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation. [2]

Early life and education

Moniruzzaman had completed his higher secondary certificate from Cumilla Cadet College. Later he joined the Bangladesh Navy as an officer cadet in 1988. After two years of military training he was commissioned in the executive branch in 1990.

Military career

Moniruzzaman served as chief staff officer to commander Chattogram Naval Area from 2017 to 2018. [3] After that, he served as pioneer commander flotilla west until January 2020. [4] Then he joined as the managing director of Dockyard & Engineering Works Ltd. [5] On 2022, he appointed as managing director of BSC and served there until he elevated to rear admiral in January 2023. [6]

Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed was an admiral in the Bangladesh Navy and the former Chief of Naval Staff. He previously served as the Director of Coast Guard Operations and commander of Chittagong Naval Command (COMCHIT). He also served in Naval Headquarters as Director of Personnel Services and Secretary to the Chief of Naval Staff. Inter Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) announced Ahmed's nomination to succeed Admiral Farid Habib. Ahmed began serving as the 15th Chief of Naval Staff on 27 January 2016.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) (Bengali: বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান মেরিটাইম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) was established in 2013, the 37th public university of the country. It is the first maritime university in Bangladesh, the 3rd maritime university in South Asia and the 12th maritime university in the world. It has issued its first calls for admission in December, 2016. The BSc in Oceanography program was started on 3 January 2017 at the university's temporary campus in Mirpur, as part of the first-ever launch of the Bachelor class in the university. Then in 2018, the first batch of BSc in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering classes started. Two more program classes started in 2019. LLB in Maritime Law and BBA in Port Management and Logistics. 2020 BSc in Maritime Fisheries first batch admission and classes start.

Rear Admiral Rashid Ahmed was a two-star rank admiral in the Pakistan Navy, who is known for serving as Chief of Staff under Commander in Chief Vice-Admiral Muzaffar Hassan and led the Navy during the fateful events in the war with India in 1971.

Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail (TAS), NUP, PPM, psc, BN was a former two-star admiral in Bangladesh Navy. His last appointment was Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority. Prior to join here he was Chairman of Payra Port Authority. Before that, he was serving as the Director of Submarine at the Navy Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali, OSP, NPP, ndc, psc, BN is a two-star admiral in Bangladesh Navy. He is the incumbent director general of the Bangladesh Coast Guard. Prior to this appointment, he served as chairman of Mongla Port Authority and before that commander of Bangladesh Navy Fleet. He also served as director of naval intelligence (DNI) at Naval Headquarters. He elevated to the rear admiral rank from commodore on 25 January 2022.

Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury (N), BSP, ndc, psc, BN is a two-star admiral in Bangladesh Navy who is currently serving as chairman of Payra Port Authority. Before that, he was Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Personnel). He also served as commander, Chattogram Naval Area. Prior to that, he was assistant chief of naval saff (logistics). He also served as director of submarine, Naval Headquarters, Dhaka. He was chairman of Payra Port Authority until 15 March 2022 before he promoted to rear admiral.

Rear Admiral Golam Sadeq is a two-star admiral in the Bangladesh Navy and incumbent commander of Khulna Naval Area (COMKHUL). Before that, he was chairman of the Payra Port Authority. Prior to that, he was senior directing staff - SDS (Navy) at the National Defence College. Prior to that, he was chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).

Mohammad Khaled Iqbal is a retired rear admiral of the Bangladesh Navy and former vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University. He is the former chairman of Chittagong Port Authority.
