The City of Salford, commonly known as Salford, is a city and metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester, England, extending west to include the towns of Eccles, Worsley, Swinton, Walkden, Little Hulton, and Irlam. The city has a population of 245,600, and is administered from the Salford Civic Centre in Swinton.

Salford City Football Club is a professional football club in Salford, Greater Manchester, England. The team compete in League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system, after winning promotion out of the National League in the 2018–19 season. Nicknamed the "Ammies", they have played home fixtures at Moor Lane since 1978.

The Salford Red Devils are a professional rugby league club in Salford, Greater Manchester, England, who play in the Super League. Formed in 1873, they have won six Championships and one Challenge Cup. Their home ground since 2012 has been the AJ Bell Stadium in Barton-upon-Irwell, before which they played at the Willows in Weaste. Before 1995, the club was known simply as Salford, from 1995–98 Salford Reds and from 1999–2013 Salford City Reds.
