Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Indian politician

Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was a politician from the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. He started in the wing of the National Conference led by G. M. Sadiq, which later merged into the Indian National Congress, eventually founding his own regional party People's Democratic Party (PDP). He served twice as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, from November 2002 to November 2005 and again from March 2015 to January 2016. He was also Minister of Tourism in Rajiv Gandhi's cabinet. He was also Home Minister of India from December 1989 to November 1990. The PDP continues to be a political force in Jammu and Kashmir, currently led by his daughter Mehbooba Mufti.

Mehbooba Mufti is an Indian politician of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who served as the last Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir as a State, from 4 April 2016 to 19 June 2018. After the revocation of the special status (autonomy) of the state in August 2019, Mufti was detained without any charges at first and later under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act. She was released only in October 2020, after the Supreme Court of India quizzed the government about the length of her detention.

The 1989 kidnapping of Rubaiya Sayeed was an act carried out by members of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, a Kashmiri political organisation on 8 December 1989, in Jammu and Kashmir. Rubaiya was the daughter of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, then the Home minister of India in the V. P. Singh government. The kidnappers demanded the release of thirteen of their members. in exchange for Rubaiya's release. The Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah In agreement with the Central government accepted their demands and freed the jailed militants.

Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali is an Indian politician and former cabinet minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He has left PDP and become the founding member of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party. Presently Vice President of the party. Ali has been Honoured with Best Legislature 2012. He is one of the most educated politician in Jammu and Kashmir state. As a Cabinet Minister, Ali headed various portfolios. He is pioneer minister of Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Zulfkar also implemented national food security act (NFSA) in the state and launched food for poor scheme (MMSFES).
