Sharvari Wagh (born 14 June 1996) [1] is an Indian actress who works in Hindi films. She began her career in 2015 as an assistant director for Luv Ranjan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, before making her acting debut with Kabir Khan's web series The Forgotten Army - Azaadi Ke Liye (2020). Wagh made her film debut in Yash Raj Films's Bunty Aur Babli 2 (2021), which won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. [2]

Early life

She was born in a Marathi family in 1996. Her parents are Shailesh Wagh, a builder and Namrata Wagh, an architect. She studied at Mumbai's The Dadar Parsee Youths Assembly High School and Ruparel College. [2] Manohar Joshi, former chief minister of Maharashtra, was her maternal grandfather. [3]

Career

Wagh has worked as an assistant director in the movies PyaarKaPunchnama 2, BajiraoMastani and SonuKeTitu KiSweety. [3] She said she had been auditioning since 2014 for a main role in movies. [4] She made her acting debut with the 2020 Amazon Prime series The Forgotten Army - Azaadi Ke Liye opposite Sunny Kaushal. [5]

Wagh made her film debut alongside Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan and Siddhant Chaturvedi in Bunty Aur Babli 2 , which was released in 2021. [6] Her performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female. Hindustan Times noted, "Sharvari is pretty confident for her first film and has a great screen presence." [7]

Wagh will next appear in Maharaja along with Junaid Khan and Shalini Pandey. [8] She will also feature in the action film Vedaa with John Abraham. [9]

Bunty Aur Babli is a 2005 Indian Hindi-language crime comedy film directed by Shaad Ali and written by Jaideep Sahni, based on a story by Aditya Chopra, who produces the film under the Yash Raj Films. The film, inspired by the 1967 American film Bonnie and Clyde, stars Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Rani Mukerji in lead roles and marks the first of the many collaborations between the former two. The younger Bachchan and Mukerji play con-artist partners-in-crime, Bunty and Babli, while the elder Bachchan plays DCP Dashrath Singh, whose focus is solely to catch them.

<i>The Forgotten Army - Azaadi Ke Liye</i> Indian web television series

The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye is a television series which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 24 January 2020. The series is directed by Kabir Khan, and is based on true events about the men and women in the Japanese collaborating Indian National Army (INA) led by Subhash Chandra Bose. The series stars Sunny Kaushal and Sharvari. Kabir Khan made his directorial debut with a documentary titled The Forgotten Army in 1999 which was aired by Doordarshan; and during a promotional talk, Kabir Khan said the current series is a project that is 20 years in the making, based on his initial documentary. The shooting took place in locations such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Mumbai.

He is the Narrator's voice behind the Indian Television series Bigg Boss. and many other Reality shows, Ad films etc. He is also an actor and he made his acting debut with The Family Man in 2019. Vijay has also done many plays including playing Chanakya in an English Play titled "ALEXANDER VS CHANAKYA". Vijay has also done 8 shows of Hindi adaptation of Arthur Miller's play "All my Sons" called DORAHA. Vijay is a celebrated Voice trainer and has trained Sanjana Sanghi(Dil bechara) and Sharvari Wagh(Bunty aur Babli 2) in Voice and diction.
