Short-track speed skating Competitive skating on an ice hockey rink

Short-track speed skating is a form of competitive ice speed skating. In competitions, multiple skaters skate on an oval ice track with a length of 111.111 metres (364.54 ft). The rink itself is 60 metres (196.85 ft) long by 30 metres (98.43 ft) wide, which is the same size as an Olympic-sized figure skating rink and an international-sized ice hockey rink. He is also a 2-time world champion over the 500 m distance, having won those championships in 2007 and 2009, a 3-time world champion over the 1500 metre distance, having won those championships in 2014, 2018 and 2021, and a 2-time world champion over the 1000 metre distance in 2016 and 2018, and also led Canada to 5 world relay titles. Hamelin is the 2014 overall World Cup season winner, and the 2018 overall World Champion, giving him all the achievements available in the sport.

Christine Nesbitt Canadian speed skater

Christine Nesbitt is a Canadian retired long track speed skater who currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. She won the gold medal in the 1000 metres event at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. She had previously won a silver medal in the team pursuit at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. She is also the 2011 sprint champion, 2012 1500 metres world champion, three-time world champion for 1000 metres, and three-time world champion for team pursuit. On 4 June 2015 she announced her retirement.

Arianna Fontana Italian short track speed skater

Arianna Fontana OMRI is an Italian short track speed skater, who has won eleven Olympic medals, among these two gold medals in the 500m short track, one at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and the second one at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Her medal haul following the 2018 Games made her the female short track skater with the most Olympic medals, and tied her with male skaters Apolo Ohno and Viktor An. It also made her the Italian sportswoman with the highest number of Winter Olympic medals, one more than Stefania Belmondo. She specialises in the 500 m event.

Elise Christie British short-track speed skater

Elise Christie is a British former short track speed skater. She was coached by Nicky Gooch and she specialised in the 1000m event. She is ten times a European gold medallist, including two overall European titles in 2015 and 2016. In the 2017 World Championships in Rotterdam she won world titles in the 1000m and 1500m events, as well as the overall gold, the first British woman and first European woman to do so.

Short track speed skating at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics was held at the Tyrolean Ice Arena in Innsbruck, Austria from 20 to 22 January. The difference in the Youth Olympic program for short track speed skating compared to the Winter Olympics, was that there was no 1500 metre event and no relay for each gender, instead a mixed NOC relay took place.

Shim Suk-hee South Korean speed skater

Shim Suk-hee is a South Korean short track speed skater. She is a two-time Olympic Champion and a World Champion (2014). Shim is also the current world record holder for 1000m, having held the world record time since 2012.

The 2013 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships took place from 8 to 10 March 2013 at the Főnix Hall in Debrecen, Hungary. They were the 38th World Short Track Speed Skating Championships and the first to be held in Hungary.

Suzanne Schulting Dutch short track speed skater

Suzanne Schulting is a Dutch short track speed skater who is also active as a long track speed skater. At the 2018 Winter Olympics she won the Netherlands' first ever gold medal in short track speed skating and became one of the youngest ever Dutch Winter Olympic champions. She is also a two-time overall World Champion and three-time overall European Champion, and the current world record holder for 1000m.

Lim Hyo-jun is a South Korean-born Chinese short track speed skater. He is the current champion of the Men's 1500 m event in short track speed skating at the Winter Olympics, and also currently holds the Olympic record for the event. Originally starting as a swimmer, Lim took up skating at a young age. Despite multiple injuries early on in his career, he notably won gold at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics upon his international debut in the Boys' 1000 m event. He would later win the 1000 m and 1500 m events in the Budapest leg of the 2017–18 ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Cup and earn selection for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Upon his Olympic debut, Lim won the gold medal, setting a new Olympic record of 2:10.485 in the process, beating Lee Jung-su's previous record set at the 2010 games.

Figure skating at the 2019 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival

Figure skating at the 2019 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival was held on 13 and 14 February at the Skenderija Hall in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Medals were awarded in men's and ladies' singles. Eligible skaters must have been born between July 1, 2002 and June 30, 2004.

Furkan Akar is a Turkish Olympian short track speed skater. He is the first representative of Turkey at the Olympic Games in short track speed skating. He is also the first and only Turkish athlete placed in "Top 10" at the Winter Olympics by finishing 6th in the 1000-meter event at the 2022 Winter Olympics held in Beijing, China.
