Silverton is an historic town in Douglas County, Missouri, United States. The GNIS classifies it as a populated place. [1] It was located along County Road 317 on Spring Creek, 1.7 miles (2.7 km) north-northeast of Wasola and 1.9 miles (3.1 km) west of the Hilo Cemetery, along Route N on Hilo Ridge. [2] [3] Although Hilo is listed as a variant name, the two were not at the same location. [4]

Douglas County is a county located in the south-central portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,684. The county seat and only incorporated community is Ava. The county was officially organized on October 19, 1857, and is named after U.S. Senator Stephen A. Douglas (D-Illinois) and later Democratic presidential candidate.

A post office called Silverton was established in 1889, and remained in operation until 1933. [5]

Dicky Creek is a stream in Douglas County, Missouri. The stream originates on the south side of a ridge below Missouri State Highway 76 about 3.5 miles east of Ava and it flows south-southeast through a narrow valley for about 3.7 miles to its junction with Hunter Creek.

Fielden is an unincorporated community in south central Douglas County, Missouri. Fielden is located on the floodplain of Fox Creek along County Road 14-343 south of Missouri Route 14 and west of Gentryville. The townsite is at an elevation of 778 ft (237 m).

Filer is an unincorporated community in northern Douglas County, in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. The community is located on Tick Ridge along Missouri Route C approximately 3 mi (4.8 km) south of the Douglas - Wright county line.

Richville is an unincorporated community in southeastern Douglas County, Missouri. Richville is located at the intersection of Missouri State Route 14 and State route W and a short distance west of the intersection of Route 14 and Missouri State Route 181. The site is located on a high ridge at an elevation of 1,191 ft (363 m). Sauls Knob at 1,339 ft (408 m) lies just to the southeast on the south side of Route 14.

Roosevelt lies on the east bank of Spring Creek on County road 289 approximately 1.5 miles northeast of the junction of Missouri State Route 14 and Missouri State Route 181 at Twin Bridges within the Mark Twain National Forest.
