Simhadri Narasimha Satakam (Telugu: సింహాద్రి నారసింహ శతకము) is a compilation of Telugu poems by Gogulapati Kurmanatha Kavi in the 18th century. He wrote this Satakam extenpore in praise of Lord Varaha Narasimha of Simhachalam.

Gogulapati Kurmanatha Kavi was a Brahmin, born to Buchanna and Gauramamba. He has two brothers Venkanna and Kamanna. He was born in Vizianagaram district near Ramatirtham around 1720. After primary education he joined Vizianagaram Samsthanam as temple servant and posted at Ramatirtham, Padmanabham, Simachalam and Srikurmam.

He was the Court (Asthana) poet of First Pusapati Ananda Gajapati Raju of Vizianagaram and wrote Mrutyunjaya Vilasam, Simhadri Narasimha Satakam, Lakshminarayana Samvadam and Sundarimani Satakam.
He used to live in Devupalli village in his last days and died in 1790. Adidam Surakavi and Chatrati Lakshminarasimha Kavi are his contemporaries.

Gurazada Venkata Apparao was a noted Indian playwright, dramatist, poet, and writer known for his works in Telugu theatre. Rao wrote the play Kanyasulkam in 1892, which is often considered the greatest play in the Telugu language. One of the pioneers of Indian theatre, Rao holds the titles Kavisekhara and Abyudaya Kavitha Pithamahudu. In 1910, Rao has scripted the widely known Telugu patriotic song "Desamunu Preminchumanna".
The Shri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha temple, Simhachalam is a Hindu temple situated on the Simhachalam hill, which is 500 metres above the sea level in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It is dedicated to one of the Hindu trinity deities Vishnu, who is worshipped there as Varaha Narasimha. As per the temple's legend, Vishnu manifested in this peculiar form, with a boar head, human torso and a lion's tail, after saving his devotee Prahlada from a murder attempt by the latter's father Hiranyakashipu. Except on Akshaya Tritiya, the idol of Varaha Narasimha is covered with sandalwood paste throughout the year, which makes it resemble a Shiva Lingam.

Telugu literature can be traced back to the early 10th century period followed by 11th century period when Mahabharata was first translated to Telugu from Sanskrit by Nannaya. He was born in 1915 at Gudlavalleru, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh to Venkata Ramaih Gudlavalleti and Suryakantham Gudlavalleti. He graduated from Andhra University and also took a Law Degree from Madras University. After his education, he served in the Revenue, Employment & Training and Endowments Departments, finally retired as Selection Grade Deputy Collector, finally settling down at Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
