The St. Mary's Cathedral [1] or simply Cathedral of Rundu is a religious building belonging to the Catholic Church and is located in the street Safari, in the town of Rundu on the northern tip of the African country of Namibia, [2] specifically in the region of Kavango East. This is one of the three Catholic cathedrals of that nation and one of 2 dedicated to St. Mary, the other being located in the capital Windhoek.

Kavango East is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia. Its capital is Rundu. Because of its rather higher rainfall than most other parts of Namibia, this region has agricultural potential for the cultivation of a variety of crops, as well as for organised forestry and agro-forestry, which stimulates furniture making and related industries.

Windhoek is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Namibia. It is located in central Namibia in the Khomas Highland plateau area, at around 1,700 metres (5,600 ft) above sea level, almost exactly at the country's geographical centre. The population of Windhoek in 2011 was 325,858, growing continually due to an influx from all over Namibia.

It is a temple that follows the Roman or Latin rite and functions as the headquarters of the Apostolic Vicariate of Rundu (Vicariatus Apostolicus Runduensis) which was created in March 1994 with the bull Sollicitam sane curam of Pope John Paul II.
