Steen Spore (born 27 April 1938) is a Danish official who was the second High Commissioner of Greenland,holding this position from 1 August 1992 to 1 July 1995. [1] [2] [3] After his departure,he became a 1st order knight of the Order of the Dannebrog.[ citation needed ]

Island Command Greenland,or simply "GLK",was a Level.II authority responsible directly to the Defence Command. It was,among other things,responsible for the military defense of Greenland,maritime and sovereignty maintenance and enforcement,as well as search and rescue. Personnel assigned to the Danish liaison office at Thule Air Base (FOTAB) as well as the Sirius Patrol were also a part of the Greenland Command. Island Command Greenland was amalgamated with Island Command Faroes to a Joint Arctic Command on 31 October 2012.

The Joint Arctic Command is a direct Level II authority in the Danish Defence. Joint Arctic Command's primary mission in peacetime is to ensure the Unity of the Realm sovereignty by monitoring the area around the Faroe Islands and Greenland. The command also handles tasks such as fisheries inspection,Search and Rescue (SAR),patient transport and other tasks that support the civil society. In short,the Joint Arctic Command handles military tasks,coast guard duties and disaster response - all in one organisation.
Greenlandic people in Denmark are residents of Denmark with Greenlandic or Greenlandic Inuit heritage. According to StatBank Greenland,as of 2020,there were 16 780 people born in Greenland living in Denmark,a figure representing almost one third of the population of Greenland. According to a 2007 Danish government report,there were 18 563 Greenlandic people living in Denmark. The exact number is difficult to calculate because of the lack of differentiation between Greenlandic and Danish heritage in Danish government records and also due to the fact that how people identify is not always reflected by their birthplace. As of 2018,there were 2,507 Greenlanders enrolled in education in Denmark.

General elections are scheduled to be held in the Kingdom of Denmark by 4 June 2023,corresponding to the maximum four-year mandate as specified by the constitution,depending on whether a snap election is called. All 179 members of the Folketing will be elected. 175 members will be elected in Denmark proper,two in the Faroe Islands and two in Greenland.
