Steven Patrick Garvey is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a first baseman, most notably for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nicknamed "Mr. Clean" because of his wholesome image during his career in baseball, Garvey was the 1974 National League Most Valuable Player Award winner, a two-time National League Championship Series MVP, a 10-time All-Star, and a two-time MVP of the All-Star Game. He holds the National League record for consecutive games played (1,207).
Charles Herman Williams was an American baseball umpire who officiated in the National League from 1978 to 1999, and in both leagues in 2000. In 1993 he became the first African American umpire to work behind home plate in a World Series game. He wore uniform number 25.

They also lost in the semi-finals of the Football League Cup to the eventual runners up, Nottingham Forest, who lost in the final to a Wolverhampton Wanderers team captained by former Liverpool captain Emlyn Hughes, who left Liverpool before the start of the league season.
