Stoycho Zahariev Stoev (Bulgarian : Стойчо Захариев Стоев; born 15 July 1962) is a Bulgarian former footballer and manager.

Managerial career

On 23 July 2013, Bulgaria champions Ludogorets Razgrad replaced coach Ivaylo Petev with Stoycho Stoev, following a 1–0 defeat by Lyubimets on the opening day of the new season. [1]

In the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League he managed Ludogorets to win their group and proceed to the round of 32. After a surprising 1-0 loss against Haskovo, Stoev was released by the club. On 22 December 2014 Stoycho Stoev took charge of Levski Sofia. [2] On 13 May 2016, after a meeting with the board of directors, it was announced that Stoev had been released by the club. [3]

On 26 August 2018 he was appointed as manager of Arda Kardzhali. [4] In early March 2019, Stoev once again became head coach of Ludogorets Razgrad, taking over from Antoni Zdravkov. [5] On 25 August 2019, Stoev was fired once again from the club following a 0:0 home draw with Slavia Sofia. [6] In June 2023, he was appointed as manager of Lokomotiv Sofia. [7]

The 2016–17 First Professional Football League is the 93rd season of the top division of the Bulgarian football league system, the 69th since a league format was adopted for the national competition of A Group as a top tier of the pyramid and also the inaugural season of the First Professional Football League, which decides the Bulgarian champion. The season began on 20 July 2018 and finished on 30 May 2019. Ludogorets Razgrad became champions for the 8th consecutive time, on the final matchday of the season, with a 4–1 home win over Cherno More Varna.

In June 2018, the Executive Committee of the Bulgarian Football Union decided to increase the participating teams to 18 for the 2019–20 season; as a result, only two teams will be relegated to Third League. The fixture list was released on 8 June 2018. The participating teams were confirmed on the same day. FC Tsarsko Selo Sofia became champions of the second league and were promoted directly to the first division. FC Dobrudzha Dobrich and PFC Nesebar were relegated.

The 2018–19 season is Ludogorets Razgrad's eight consecutive season in the Bulgarian First League, of which they are defending champions. They will also take part in the Bulgarian Cup, Supercup and will enter the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round.

The 2019–20 First Professional Football League, also known as Efbet League for sponsorship reasons, was the 96th season of the top division of the Bulgarian football league system, the 72nd since a league format was adopted for the national competition of A Group as a top tier of the pyramid, and also the 4th season of the First Professional Football League, which decides the Bulgarian champion. Ludogorets Razgrad were the defending champions after winning their 8th consecutive title in the previous season. On 21 June 2020 the team from Razgrad clinched its 9th championship with four games to spare after a 2:1 win home win over Beroe. The season began in July 2019 and was scheduled to end in May 2020, but was completed in July 2020.

The 2023–24 First Professional Football League, also known as efbet League for sponsorship reasons, is the 100th season of the top division of the Bulgarian football league system, the 76th since a league format was adopted for the national competition of A Group as a top tier of the pyramid, and also the 8th season of the First Professional Football League, which decides the Bulgarian champion. The season began on 14 July 2023.
