Super League XXV results

The 2020 Super League XXV season is the 25th season of Super League, and 126th season of rugby league in Great Britain. It began on 30 January 2020, and was originally scheduled to end on 10 October 2020. It was to have consisted of 29 regular season games, and four rounds of play-offs, including the Grand Final at Old Trafford. Due to the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, there is uncertainty surrounding the remaining fixtures, and the league table will be decided on a percentage basis for the first time since 1930 (excluding the War Emergency Leagues). The fixture list was released on 5 November 2019. [1]

Contents

On 20 July 2020 Toronto Wolfpack withdrew from the competition and Super League expunged the teams completed results from the season's results. [2]

On 3 November 2020, Hull KR announced that they were unable to fulfil the remainder of their fixtures, due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the club, and had no alternative but to terminate the remainder of their season. It was also reported, that three players had returned positive tests, with another two inconclusive, five having to self isolate and nine players injured. [3]

Twelve teams competed over 23 rounds, including the Magic Weekend, which took place at St James' Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, after which the eight highest entered the Super League play-offs for a place in the Super League Grand Final. The four lowest teams then entered the qualifying play-offs, along with the four highest teams from the Championship, to determine which teams will play again in Super League XXIII.

The 2019 Super League XXIV season was the 24th season of Super League, and 125th season of rugby league in Great Britain. The Super League XXIV commenced on 31 January 2019, and ended on 12 October 2019. It consisted of 29 regular season games, and 4 rounds of play-offs, which included the Grand Final at Old Trafford. The fixture list was released on 6 November 2018.

Super League XXV, known as the Betfred Super League for sponsorship reasons, was the 25th season of the Super League and 126th season of rugby league in Great Britain. St Helens were the reigning champions going into Super League XXV. At the start of the season, it consisted of twelve professional rugby league teams: ten from England, one from Canada, and one from France. Due to financial pressures related to the season suspension, Canadian side Toronto Wolfpack withdrew from the league in July 2020, and the league continued with just 11 teams.

The 2020 Challenge Cup known as the Coral Challenge Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the 119th staging of the Challenge Cup, the main rugby league knockout tournament for teams in the Super League, the British national leagues and a number of invited amateur clubs.

The 2020 season is Wigan Warriors's 40th consecutive season playing in England's top division of rugby league. During the season, they competed in the Super League XXV and the 2020 Challenge Cup.

The 2021 season will be Wigan Warriors's 41st consecutive season playing in England's top division of rugby league. During the season, they will compete in the Super League XXVI and the 2021 Challenge Cup.

The season started on 26 March 2021, with all six fixtures taking place behind closed doors, at Headingley. It was originally scheduled to have consisted of 27 regular season games, but will now only consist of 25, including the Grand Final at Old Trafford, set to take place on 9 October 2021.

This year's competition will be contested between only the professional clubs.

The 2021 RFL Women's Super League known as the Betfred Women's Super League for sponsorship reasons is the fifth season of the Rugby League Women's Super League for female players in clubs affiliated to the Rugby Football League (RFL).
