TV Nova is a commercial television station in the Czech Republic. It began broadcasting in February 1994 as the first privately held nationwide Czech TV station. Its first CEO was Vladimír Železný. It quickly achieved the largest market share in the country and remained in this position until the early 2010s.
Vladimír Železný is a Czech businessman and politician. He was the first CEO of TV NOVA, a popular Czech television station and was a member of the European Parliament between 2004 and 2009. As a media mogul with political influence, he has been compared to Rupert Murdoch and Silvio Berlusconi. He was convicted of tax evasion in 2007.
Česko hledá SuperStar is the Czech version of the Idol series. It is broadcast on Czech TV Nova, first series in spring 2004, the second a year later, the third series in autumn 2006. The show was very popular in 2004, with an audience of more than 3.5 million people and a large amount of media attention. The further series' rating were rather lower. In 2008, the program was superseded by the X Factor. However, Czech broadcaster TV Nova and the broadcaster of the Slovak version of Idol, TV Markíza, confirmed that both versions would be joined into one. The latest version is called Česko Slovenská Superstar, which started in September 2009.
Slovenská televízia was a state-owned public television organisation in Slovakia. It was created in 1991 as the Slovak part of the former Czechoslovak Television and was headquartered in Bratislava. It was funded from a combination of television licence fees, advertising, and government funding. It ceased to existed on 1 January 2011, when it was merged with the state-owned public radio organisation Slovenský rozhlas to create Rozhlas a televízia Slovenska.
Markíza is a Slovak television channel launched on August 31, 1996. The channel was founded by a later politician Pavol Rusko, and is now part of the Central European Media Enterprises (CME). It also operates television channels Doma, Dajto, Markíza International, Markíza KRIMI and Markíza Klasik . In 2020, CME was bought out by Peter Kellner's investment group PPF. PPF is therefore the new owner of tv Markíza.
Television was introduced in Czechoslovakia in 1953. Experimental projects with DVB-T started in 2000. Finally on 21 October 2005, multiplex A (DVB-T) was launched with three channels of Česká televize and one of TV Nova and radio channels of Český rozhlas.

The Voice Česko Slovensko is a reality singing competition and version of The Voice of Holland for Czech Republic and Slovakia. It is broadcast on TV Nova in Czech Republic and TV Markíza in Slovakia, both stations are owned by CME. It is derived from the original The Voice of Holland. The concept of the competition consists of searching for singer talents over 16 years of age in public casting. The winner is later determined on the basis of a voting vote by SMS, which receives financial rewards and the ability to upload his own album.
Česko Slovenská SuperStar: Výběr finálových hitů is the soundtrack album from the second season of the talent contest Česko Slovenská SuperStar, released by Universal. It contains one cover song from each of the top ten finalists of the TV show, and one ensemble track performed by the top twelve contestants.

The concept of the series presents nine local celebrities coupled with an equal number of dancers to "dance their dream" in common. Viliam Rozboril and Barbora Rakovská have been hosting the show since, while Eva Máziková, Ján Ďurovčík and Peter Modrovský, these were promoted as the judges for the series opening season. Apart from that, a guest judge will appear per episode too.

Marián Miezga is a Slovak actor. He was recognised at the 1998 DOSKY Awards as Discovery of the Year as part of the performance of Na koho to slovo padne. Although mainly known for his television roles on Slovak TV channels RTVS and TV JOJ, he joined the cast of Markíza's Oteckovia in 2018 as Juraj Šípka.
