Taihei Kato (加藤大平, Katō Taihei) (born July 30, 1984) is a Japanese Nordic combined skier who has been competing since 2003. He won a gold medal in the 4 x 5 km team event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec and earned his best individual finish of 27th twice (10 km mass start: 2009, 15 km individual: 2007).
At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Kato finished sixth in the 4 x 5 km team, 24th in the individual normal hill, and 30th in the individual large hill events.
Kato suffered a broken left arm after a fall while competing in the Nordic combined event during the Sochi Winter Olympic Games. After a seemingly successfully jump on the large hill, Kato's left ski came loose seconds after he landed, causing him to fall at high speed, sustaining the injury in the process. He was unable to continue in the competition, which would include a 10 km cross-country ski race.
Felix Gottwald is an Austrian Nordic combined athlete who competed from 1994 to 2007 and then returned to compete in 2009. He is 5 ft 10 in , weighing 150 lb(10 st 10 lb; 68 kg).
Christoph Bieler is an Austrian former Nordic combined athlete. Competing in four Winter Olympics, he won two medals in the 4 x 5 km team event with a gold in 2006 and a bronze medal in 2002. Bieler's best individual Winter Olympic finish was tenth in the 10 km individual large hill event at Vancouver in 2010.
Mario Stecher is an Austrian former Nordic combined skier. Competing in six Winter Olympics, he won three medals in the 4 x 5 km team event with two golds and a bronze (2002). Stecher's best individual finish was fifth in the 10 km individual normal hill event at Vancouver in 2010.
Maxime Laheurte is a retired French nordic combined athlete who has competed since 2002, including 4 Winter Olympic Games. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, he finished fourth in the 4 x 5 km team and 38th in the 10 km individual large hill event.
Janne Pekka Ryynänen is a Finnish Nordic combined athlete who has been competing since 2003. His ski club is Ounasvaaran hiihtoseura. One of his greatest achievements include a gold medal from 4 x 5 km team competition at Sapporo 2007, where he had the longest jump of the Finnish team. Ryynänen best individual finish was fourth in the 10 km individual large hill event at Liberec in 2009.

Sébastien Lacroix is a French Nordic combined skier who has competed between 2001 and 2015. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he finished fourth in the 4 x 5 km team event and finished 19th in both the 10 km individual normal hill and the 10 km individual large hill events.
Akito Watabe is a Japanese nordic combined skier who has been competing since 2005. He won a gold medal in the 4 × 5 km team event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec.

Tomáš Slavík is a Czech nordic combined skier who has competed since 2002. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he earned his best finish of eighth twice while earning his best individual finish of 20th in the 10 km individual normal hill event at Vancouver in 2010.
Tim Hug is a Swiss Nordic combined skier who has been competing since 2003. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, he finished 9th in the 4 x 5 km team, 33rd in the 10 km individual large hill, and 35th in the individual normal hill events.

The men's team large hill/4 x 5 km Nordic combined competition for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada was held at Whistler Olympic Park in Whistler, British Columbia on 23 February. The Austrian team of Michael Gruber, Christoph Bieler, Felix Gottwald, and Mario Stecher were the defending Olympic champions. Gruber retired after the 2007-08 season. Gottwald originally retired after the 2006-07 World Cup season, but came out of retirement in May 2009 to compete for the 2009-10 World Cup season including the 2010 Games. The defending world champions were the Japanese team of Yūsuke Minato, Taihei Kato, Akito Watabe, and Norihito Kobayashi. The last World Cup event prior to the 2010 Games in this format took place on 12 December 2009 in Harrachov, Czech Republic, but that event was cancelled on 4 December 2009 to warm weather and lack of snow. A team normal hill event took place prior to the 2010 Winter Games in Schonach, Germany on 24 January 2010 and was won by the German team of Georg Hettich, Eric Frenzel, Björn Kircheisen, and Tino Edelmann.
Miroslav Dvořák is a retired Czech nordic combined skier who has competed since 2003 until 2019. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, he finished eighth in the 4 x 5 km team, 39th in the 10 km individual normal hill, and 28th in the 10 km individual large hill events. He improved his results four years later, in Sochi. He was part from the Czech team that finished seventh, and in the individual races, Dvořák got was 29th in the 10 km individual normal hill, and 11th in the 10 km individual large hill events.
Lukas Runggaldier is a retired Italian Nordic combined skier who has competed between 2005 and 2020. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, he finished tenth in the 4 x 5 km team event, 11th in the 10 km individual large hill, and 16th in the 10 km individual normal hill event.
Armin Bauer is an Italian Nordic combined skier who has competed since 2005. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he finished tenth in the 4 x 5 km team, 21st in the 10 km individual large hill, and 43rd in the 10 km individual large hill events.
Niyaz Gabdulkhakovich Nabeev is a Russian nordic combined skier who has competed since 2007. He finished 43rd in the 10 km individual large hill event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

The ski jumping part of this event took place at 11:30 CET while the cross-country part of the event took place at 15:30 CET. Japan's team of Yūsuke Minato, Taihei Kato, Akito Watabe, and Norihito Kobayashi were the defending world champions while the Austrian team of Bernhard Gruber, Felix Gottwald, Mario Stecher, and David Kreiner were the defending Olympic champions.
