Taipei Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), branded as Metro Taipei, is a rapid transit system serving the areas of Taipei and New Taipei in Taiwan, operated by the government-owned Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, which also operates the Maokong Gondola.
Hitachi Rail Italy S.p.A. is a multinational rolling stock manufacturer company based in Pistoia, Italy. Formerly AnsaldoBreda S.p.A., a subsidiary of state-owned Finmeccanica, the company was sold in 2015 to Hitachi Rail of Japan. After the deal was finalized, the current name was adapted in November 2015 to reflect the new ownership.
The Circular or Yellow line is a metro line operated by Taipei Metro. The first phase of the project consists of the section from Dapinglin to New Taipei Industrial Park and is approximately 15.4 km (9.6 mi) long with 14 stations. This initial section was opened on 31 January 2020. Hitachi Rail Italy supplied 17 sets of 4-car driverless medium-capacity trains for the line.
The City Circle Line or M3 is a loop line of the Copenhagen Metro. It has been claimed by COWI A/S that the City Circle Line is the largest construction project to have taken place in Copenhagen during the last 400 years. The network's total length is 15.5 kilometres (9.6 mi) and has 17 stations. The line opened on 29 September 2019.
Nippon Sharyo, Ltd. , formed in 1896, is a major rolling stock manufacturer based in Nagoya, Japan. In 1996, it abbreviated its name to "日本車両" Nippon Sharyō. Its shortest abbreviation is Nissha "日車". It was a listed company on Nikkei 225 until 2004. It is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and Nagoya Stock Exchange as ticker 7102. In 2008, Central Japan Railway Company became the majority shareholder (50.1%) of the financially struggling Nippon Sharyo making the firm a "consolidated subsidiary" of JR Central. In July 2012 Nippon Sharyo USA started production in their new facility in Rochelle, Illinois. The facility closed at the end of October 2018 due to a lack of orders.
The Taipei Metro C301 is the first generation of heavy-capacity electric multiple units on the Taipei Metro. Built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Union Rail Car Partnership between 1992 and 1994, it was introduced on the Tamsui line in 1997.

The Hitachi Rail Italy Driverless Metro is a class of driverless electric multiple units and corresponding signaling system. Manufactured by Hitachi Rail Italy and Hitachi Rail STS in Italy, it is or will be used on the Copenhagen Metro, Princess Nora bint Abdul Rahman University, the Brescia Metro, the Thessaloniki Metro, Line 5 and Line 4 of the Milan Metro, Line C of the Rome Metro, Honolulu on the HART system, and the Yellow Line of the Taipei Metro. The first system to use this class of driverless electric multiple units was the Copenhagen Metro which was opened in 2002.

The Taipei Metro C381 is the fifth and the latest generation of heavy-capacity electric multiple units on the Taipei Metro in Taipei, Taiwan. They are designed to increase the capacity of the expanded network with the opening of the Xinyi and Songshan lines.
The Sanying or Light Blue line is a light metro line under construction in New Taipei, Taiwan. Approval for the construction of the line was given by the central government on 2 June 2015. Constructed on elevated tracks, the line will be 14.3 km long and will have 12 stations and one depot. It will run from Dingpu Station on the Bannan line along Zhongyang Road to Sanxia and then cross National Freeway No. 3 to Yingge. A turnkey contract was signed with Hitachi Rail STS and Hitachi Rail Italy as members of the ARH consortium on 21 June 2016. As leader of the consortium, Hitachi Rail STS's scope of work included the supply of train control technology and all the electromechanical systems for an equivalent value of €219.8 million. Hitachi's scope of work included the design and manufacture of 29 two-car trains. The main project started construction on 21 July 2016 and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by 2025. In addition to the main line, there is also a plan to extend the line to Bade District, Taoyuan. This 3.9 km extension would connect to the Green Line of the Taoyuan Metro.
