District 83 is a district in the Texas House of Representatives. It encompasses all of Terry, Lynn, Gaines, Borden, Scurry, and Mitchell counties, most of Lubbock County, and the outskirts of the city of Lubbock. [1] Since 2014, it has been represented by Republican Dustin Burrows, [2] who won reelection in 2018 with 77.3% of the vote. [3]

Crosby County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 6,059. The county seat is Crosbyton. The county was founded in 1876 and later organized in 1886. Both the county and its seat are named for Stephen Crosby, a land commissioner in Texas.
Collingsworth County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 3,057. Its county seat is Wellington. The county was created in 1876 and later organized in 1890. It is named for James Collinsworth, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and first chief justice of the Republic of Texas. Collingsworth County was one of 30 prohibition, or entirely dry, counties in Texas, but a vote in 2017 changed this law.
Caldwell County is a county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. As at the 2010 census, the population was 83,029. Its county seat is Lenoir.

Kenneth Michael Conaway is an American politician who was the U.S. Representative for Texas's 11th congressional district from 2005 to 2021. He is a member of the Republican Party. The district Conaway represented is located in West Texas and includes Midland, Odessa, San Angelo, Brownwood, and Granbury. Conaway led the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections after the Intelligence Committee chair, Devin Nunes, recused himself. Aside from serving as the Chair of the House Ethics Committee, he served as the Chair of the House Agriculture Committee, and later it's ranking member. Conaway indicated in July 2019 that he would not be seeking reelection. Conaway was succeeded by fellow Republican August Pfluger.

Delwin L. Jones was an American politician, who, prior to 2011, was the oldest member of the Texas House of Representatives, having represented what became and what remains District 83 based in the area about Lubbock, Texas. Jones was originally elected as a Democrat in 1964, when that party held 149 of the 150 seats in the Texas House. Jones was defeated for re-nomination in 1972 by cotton farmer Pete Laney of Hale Center, later the House Speaker. After a 12-year absence, Jones returned to the House in 1989 as a Republican.
