The Noise is a half-hour music magazine broadcast on the ITV network in the autumn of 1996. It aired between 11.00am and 11.30am on Saturdays and sat between WOW! and The Chart Show in the schedule. Like The Chart Show, it was focused on music; however, while The Chart Show was based principally on videos, The Noise featured live in-studio performances, interviews, and features.
It was presented and produced by Andi Peters, who had recently left CBBC and been put in charge of music and youth programming at LWT. The show was made by LWT from the London Studios on the south-bank and featured a variety of guests from across the musical spectrum.
The title sequence to the show depicts two middle-aged ladies enjoying tea and cakes together, while in the next room, a beat box speaker is playing a noisy tune which is disturbing both of the ladies. The loudness of the beat box causes the room to vibrate vigorously, until it breaks through the wall into the ladies' room and generates a swirl from its main speaker, sucking both of the ladies inside it as if it were a black hole. The titles were created by LWT's Bill Wilson, and the instrumental theme tune was composed by the synth-pop duo, Pet Shop Boys.
It performed poorly in the ratings and did not continue beyond its sole series; however, a special episode entitled "The Noise: Boyzone in Brazil" was produced and broadcast in 1997, the special was due to be broadcast on 6 September but was postponed due to an alternative schedule being used after the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales and was transmitted on 4 October instead. Two years later, ITV would go on to replace The Chart Show with a studio-based music performance series, CD:UK, to significantly greater success. Andi Peters later left LWT to join Channel 4, where he developed the T4 youth strand.
Julian Turner appeared on the show as an assistant to Andi Peters but left the show during the series due to artistic differences and went on to pursue a successful career in international finance.
Tiswas was a British children's television series that originally aired on Saturday mornings from 5 January 1974 to 3 April 1982, and was produced for the ITV network by ATV.
London Weekend Television (LWT) was the ITV network franchise holder for Greater London and the Home Counties at weekends, broadcasting from Fridays at 5.15 pm to Monday mornings at 6:00. From 1968 until 1992, when LWT's weekday counterpart was Thames Television, there was an on-screen handover to LWT on Friday nights. From 1993 to 2002, when LWT's weekday counterpart was Carlton Television, the transfer usually occurred invisibly during a commercial break, for Carlton and LWT shared studio and transmission facilities.
Top of the Pops (TOTP) is a British music chart television programme, made by the BBC and broadcast weekly between 1January 1964 and 30 July 2006. The programme was the world's longest-running weekly music show. For most of its history, it was broadcast on Thursday evenings on BBC One. Each show consisted of performances of some of the week's best-selling popular music records, usually excluding any tracks moving down the chart, including a rundown of that week's singles chart. This was originally the Top 20, though this varied throughout the show's history. The Top 30 was used from 1969, and the Top 40 from 1984.
ITV Yorkshire, previously known as Yorkshire Television and commonly referred to as just YTV, is the British television service provided by ITV Broadcasting Limited for the Yorkshire franchise area on the ITV network. Until 1974, this was primarily the historic county of Yorkshire and parts of neighbouring counties served by the Emley Moor transmitter. Following a reorganisation in 1974 the transmission area was extended to include Lincolnshire, northwestern Norfolk and parts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, served by the Belmont transmitter.
Upstairs, Downstairs is a British drama television series produced by London Weekend Television (LWT) for ITV. It ran for 68 episodes divided into five series on ITV from 1971 to 1975.
Live & Kicking is a British children's television series that originally aired on BBC1 from 2 October 1993 to 15 September 2001. It was the replacement for Going Live!, and took many of its features from it, such as phone-ins, games, comedy, competitions and the showing of cartoons. Once Live & Kicking had become established in series two, it reached its height in popularity during series four, when it was presented by Zoe Ball and Jamie Theakston; their final edition won a BAFTA award. After this the programme's ratings dropped with the launch of SMTV Live on ITV and the show ended in 2001.
Andi Eleazu Peters is a British television presenter, producer, journalist and voice actor, currently employed by ITV and known for presenting Children's BBC, roles on breakfast TV shows Live & Kicking, GMTV, Good Morning Britain and Lorraine, and for hosting Dancing on Ice: Extra and The Big Reunion.
The Hitman and Her was a British television dance music programme hosted by Pete Waterman and Michaela Strachan. The programme was produced for Granada Television and ran from September 1988 until December 1992 on ITV's Night Network.
World of Sport is a British television sport programme which ran on ITV between 2 January 1965 and 28 September 1985 in competition with the BBC's Grandstand. Like Grandstand, the programme ran for several hours every Saturday afternoon.
CITV is a British children's morning programming block on ITV2 and former free-to-air channel owned by ITV plc. The channel broadcast content from CITV's archive and acquisitions daily from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm. CITV, then Children's ITV, launched on 3 January 1983 as a late afternoon programming block on the ITV network for children aged 6–12. It replaced the earlier Watch It! branding and introduced networked in-vision continuity links between programmes. These links were originally pre-recorded from a small London studio up until 1987, when Central won the contract to produce live links from their Birmingham studios. In 2004, presentation of CITV was relocated to Granada Television in Manchester, which saw the demise of in-vision continuity. Nine years later, the operations moved to ITV Granada's MediaCityUK studios in Salford.
Anna Lee is a British television crime drama series, first broadcast on 10 January 1993, that ran for a total of six episodes on ITV. The series, loosely based on the detective novels of Liza Cody, starred Imogen Stubbs as the title character, alongside Brian Glover, John Rowe, Peter Wight and Wil Johnson. The series was produced by Brian Eastman, in conjunction with Carnival Films for London Weekend Television.
Music Box was a pioneering pan-European 24-hour cable and satellite television channel that ran from 29 March 1984 to 30 January 1987, and was operated by Music Box Limited. It was originally one of three services that formed Thorn EMI's venture into satellite television as a British version of MTV, and later became part of Virgin Vision as one of Richard Branson's business ventures launched in 1983.
Night Network, Night Time and Night Shift were names given to the overnight schedule of the ITV network in the United Kingdom. The series began on 8 July 1978, running through the summer and continuing up to December, with a Christmas Special.

Supersonic was a British television music show, which featured pop music artists of the day, one of the many attempts by ITV to equal the success of the BBC's Top of the Pops. Launched in 1975, the show typically lasted 25 minutes and was produced by London Weekend Television for the ITV network, running for two years.
Text Santa was a charity initiative set up in 2011 by ITV to support UK-based charities during the Christmas period. The appeal to the public is to donate money mainly via text donation and profits from merchandise. The telethons have been hosted by popular ITV presenters including Phillip Schofield, Christine Bleakley, and Ant & Dec. The 2015 appeal show was the last after ITV decided to axe the show to make way for an all-year appeal.
