The Renegade Rip is the student newspaper of Bakersfield College. In publication since 1929, [1] The Rip covers campus news as well as major events off campus. The Renegade Rip won Pacesetter Awards in 2003 and 2008. [2] [3]

Memorial Stadium is a double-decked concrete and steel stadium in northeast Bakersfield, California, near the scenic Panorama Bluffs, which overlook the prolific Kern River Oil Field. In July 2019 an artificial playing surface was installed replacing the worn out and troublesome Bermuda grass field which was susceptible to fungus growth. An all-weather track was also installed In 2020 a new scoreboard and sound system were installed along with new L.E.D. lights placed upon the original light standards.

Bak-Anime is an annual two-day anime convention held at the Kern County Fairgrounds in Bakersfield, California by the staff of SacAnime. The convention is the sister conventions to the Bakersfield Comic Con, Sacramento Comic, Toy and Anime Show (Sac-Con), and SacAnime.
The 1949 Cal Poly Mustangs football team represented California Polytechnic State College—now known as California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo—as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the 1949 college football season. Led by Chuck Pavelko his second and final season as head coach, Cal Poly compiled an overall record of 4–6 with a mark of 1–3 in conference play, tying for third place in the CCAA. The Mustangs played home games at Mustang Stadium in San Luis Obispo, California.
