The Voice is an Indian singing reality talent show, based on the original Dutch version of the program created by John de Mol and is part of a wider international franchise. The series employs a panel of four coaches who critique the artists' performances. Each coach guides their team of selected artists through the remainder of the season. They also compete to ensure that their act wins the competition, thus making them the winning coach.
India, also known as the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh largest country by area and with more than 1.3 billion people, it is the second most populous country and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the southwest, and the Bay of Bengal on the southeast, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west; China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the northeast; and Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives, while its Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.
Reality television is a genre of television programming that documents supposedly unscripted real-life situations, and often features an otherwise unknown cast of individuals who are typically not professional actors. Reality television exploded as a phenomenon in the late 1990s and early 2000s with the global success of the series Survivor, Idols, and Big Brother. These shows and a number of others became global franchises, spawning local versions in dozens of countries. The genre has various standard tropes, including "confessionals", or interview segments, used by cast members to express their thoughts, which often double as the shows' narration. In competition-based reality shows, there are other common elements, such as one participant being eliminated per episode, a panel of judges, and the concept of immunity from elimination.
In April 2015, &TV and show producer Endemol India announced leading Bollywood singers Himesh Reshammiya, Mika Singh, Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan as the coaches for the first season [1] and Karan Tacker as the host. [2] Endemol India announced that Terence Lewis would be choreographing the opening act for the premiere of the show. [3]
Hindi cinema, often metonymously referred to as Bollywood, and formerly known as Bombay cinema, is the Indian Hindi-language film industry, based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The term being a portmanteau of "Bombay" and "Hollywood", Bollywood is a part of the larger cinema of India, which includes other production centers producing films in other Indian languages. Linguistically, Bollywood films tend to use a colloquial dialect of Hindi-Urdu, or Hindustani, mutually intelligible to both Hindi and Urdu speakers, while modern Bollywood films also increasingly incorporate elements of Hinglish.
Himesh Reshammiya is an Indian Music Director, Songwriter, Composer, Producer, Singer, Story Writer and Film Distributor who predominantly works in Bollywood Film Industry.
Mika Singh is a Bollywood playback singer and live performer. Amongst a wide catalogue of songs, the prominent ones are "Bas Ek King", "Mauja Hi Mauja", "Ibn-e-Batuta" (Ishqiya), and "Dhanno" (Housefull). Mika began his career at an early age and has released several solo albums. He also acted on various reality shows, becoming a modest star in the country. Mika Singh is younger brother of Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi.
Sunidhi Chauhan during the premiere of the show on 6 June 2015, flaunted a dress worth ₹0.3 million (US$4,200). The dress was especially created for her by internationally acclaimed Indian fashion designers Falguni and Shane Peacock. Chauhan wore the dress for a two minute-performance. Chauhan in a statement said, "Everything about the evening was just so grand - right from the spectacular production, the choreography, and my look." [4] [5]
