  1. The pronunciation uncertain. /ˈrzli/ RYZE-lee (archaic), [1] /ˈrɒtsli/ ROT-slee (present-day) [1] and /ˈrəθsli/ RY-əth-slee [2] have been suggested. However, in Hilary Mantel's novel "Wolf Hall" it is assumed that the pronunciation may have been "Risley", as Wriothesley is nicknamed "Call-Me Risley", see "In fiction".
