Thoothukudi is an assembly constituency located in Thoothukudi Lok Sabha Constituency in Tamil Nadu. Before 2009 General elections, Thoothukudi assembly constituency was part of Tirunelveli Lok Sabha Constituency. Thoothukudi will be one of 17 assembly constituencies to have VVPAT facility with EVMs in Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election, 2016. [2] [3]

Thoothukudi is a Lok Sabha constituency in Tamil Nadu. Originally Tiruchendur constituency, it was delimited to Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi constituencies during 2009 Lok Sabha election.

2019 Indian general election in Tamil Nadu

The 2019 Indian general elections was held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. The elections can be held at an earlier date if the Council of Ministers recommends dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha to the President of India. However, the government has publicly announced that the elections will be held according to schedule. The general election in Tamil Nadu was held on April 18, 2019. ECI has announced that the by-election for 18 assembly constituencies together with the general elections. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and on the same day the results will be announced.
