The Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was the 51st edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Athens, Greece, following Helena Paparizou's win at the 2005 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine with the song "My Number One". It was the first time Greece had hosted the contest - 32 years after the country made its debut. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), the contest was held at the Nikos Galis Olympic Indoor Hall, and consisted of a semi-final on 18 May, and the final on 20 May 2006. The two live shows were hosted by Maria Menounos and Sakis Rouvas.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 19 times since making its debut in 1993, after coming second in the qualification round "Kvalifikacija za Millstreet". Prior to 1993, Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Eurovision Song Contest as part of Yugoslavia.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by Deen and the song "In the Disco" in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004. The song was written by Vesna Pisarović, who represented the Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 in Tallinn with her song 'Everything I want'.
Bosnia and Herzegovina entered the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with Marija Šestić performing "Rijeka bez imena". The song was written and composed by Aleksandra Milutinović and Goran Kovačić.

Greece entered the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Secret Combination", written by Konstantinos Pantzis with lyrics by Poseidonas Giannopoulos. The song was performed by Kalomoira, an American singer of Greek descent who had previously won a Greek talent show. In February 2008, as part of the selection process organized by the Greek national broadcaster Ellinikí Radiofonía Tileórasi (ERT), three competing artists—Chrispa, Kostas Martakis, and Kalomoira—performed their prospective entries live during a televised broadcast watched by nearly two million viewers. "Secret Combination" was selected to represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest by a combination of a public televote and panel of judges.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2009 was the 54th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Moscow, Russia, following Dima Bilan's win at the 2008 contest in Belgrade, Serbia with the song "Believe". It was the first time Russia had hosted the contest - 14 years after the country made its debut. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Channel One (C1R), the contest was held at the Olimpiysky Arena, and consisted of two semi-finals on 12 and 14 May, and the final on 16 May 2009. The semi-finals were hosted by Natalia Vodianova and Andrey Malahov, while the final was hosted by Ivan Urgant and Alsou Abramova.
Yugoslavia participated for the last time in the Eurovision Song Contest 1992, held in Malmö, Sweden as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The last Yugoslav representative was Extra Nena with the song "Ljubim te pesmama".
Bosnia and Herzegovina competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. The Bosnian and Herzegovinian broadcaster, Bosanskohercegovačka radiotelevizija (BHRT), held an internal selection to select the 2009 Bosnian and Herzegovinian representative. BHRT selected Regina to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at Eurovision, and they performed the song "Bistra voda" at the contest.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009 was the seventh edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest and took place in Kyiv, Ukraine. It was scheduled for 21 November. 13 countries were confirmed by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to compete in the contest.
Vukašin Brajić is a Bosnian Serb pop-rock singer who rose to fame after participating in the first season (2008–09) of Operacija trijumf, the Serbian version of Star Academy, in which he came in second place.
Bosnia and Herzegovina made their début at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 in Millstreet, Ireland. Fazla represented Bosnia and Herzegovina with the song "Sva bol svijeta". The lyrics of the song describe the Bosnian War occurring at that time in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which gripped the entire country at the time. They finished in 16th place with 27 points.
Croatia entered the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time as an independent country in 1993. The country's first entry was by Put with the song "Don't Ever Cry".
Bosnia and Herzegovina selected its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 through an internal selection process. A public call for songs was held by the Bosnian national broadcaster Radiotelevizija Bosne i Hercegovine (BHRT), and Vukašin Brajić was selected by the broadcaster to represent the country with the song "Munja i grom". The song was premiered in a special programme to be broadcast on BHT 1 on 14 March 2010. It has since been confirmed that Brajić will perform the English version of the song, "Thunder and Lightning", at the Contest in May.
Serbia entered the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, held in Oslo, Norway in May 2010, with Milan Stanković's "Ovo je Balkan".
Ukraine competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. The Ukrainian entry for the contest was originally selected internally by the Ukrainian national broadcaster National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU), which Vasyl Lazarovych was the selected in December 2009. On 6 March 2010, a national final was held to select the Eurovision song to be performed. Out of five entries the song "I Love You" was the winner.
Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany, selecting their entry through an internal selection, organised by the Bosnian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Bosne i Hercegovine (BHRT).
Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Ljubav je" written by Almir Ajanović and Jasmin Fazlić Jala. The song was performed by Dalal and Deen featuring Ana Rucner and Jala. Dalal and Deen are Bosnian singers, the former known as a member of the duo Erato and the latter having represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, while Ana Rucner is a Croatian cellist and Jala is a Bosnian rapper. In November 2015, the Bosnian broadcaster Radio and Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT) announced that they would be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest after a three-year absence after securing sponsorship to cover both the participation fee and all costs related to the participation. In the same month, the broadcaster revealed that they had internally selected Dalal Midhat-Talakić, Fuad Backović-Deen, Ana Rucner and Jasmin Fazlić Jala to compete at the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Their song, "Ljubav je", was presented to the public during a show entitled BH Eurosong Show 2016 on 19 February 2016.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2017 was the 62nd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Kyiv, Ukraine, following Jamala's win at the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden, with the song "1944". It was the second time Ukraine had hosted the contest, having previously done so in 2005. It was, overall, the fourth Eurovision event that were held in the country, including the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 and 2013. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA:PBC), the contest was held at the International Exhibition Centre and consisted of two semi-finals on 9 and 11 May, and the final on 13 May 2017. The three live shows were hosted by Oleksandr Skichko, Volodymyr Ostapchuk and Timur Miroshnychenko.
