Tierra Oscura is a town and corregimiento in Bocas del Toro District, Bocas del Toro Province, Panama. It has a land area of 88.6 square kilometres (34.2 sq mi) and had a population of 2,661 as of 2010, giving it a population density of 30 inhabitants per square kilometre (78/sq mi). [1] It was created by Law 10 of March 7, 1997; this measure was complemented by Law 5 of January 19, 1998 and Law 69 of October 28, 1998. [1] Its population as of 2000 was 1,950. [1]

Its area is 4,643.9 square kilometers, comprising the mainland and nine main islands. The province consists of the Bocas del Toro Archipelago, Bahía Almirante, Chiriquí Lagoon, and adjacent mainland. The capital is the city of Bocas del Toro on Isla Colón. Other major cities or towns include Almirante and Changuinola. The province has a population of 125,461 as of 2010.

An elevated former railroad grade and bridge connects Guabito to Sixaola. This border crossing is popular with tourists going between Costa Rica and Bocas del Toro, though few tourists stop in Guabito longer than necessary to clear Panamanian customs.
