Tik Chi-yuen SBS JP (Chinese :狄志遠) is a member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council and of North District Council. [1] He is a registered social worker and chairman of the small centrist Third Side party,which he co-founded in 2015,after quitting the Democratic Party,of which he was also a co-founder.
He was the chairman of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation,member of the Commission on Strategic Development,Council for Sustainable Development and the Commission on Poverty. [2] [3] [4]
In 2008,Tik took part in the social welfare functional constituency election in the 2008 Hong Kong legislative election. But he was defeated by Cheung Kwok Che,the president of the Hong Kong Social Workers General Union. [5] [6]
On 9 September 2015,he quit the Democratic Party after he supported the constitutional reform package which the party opposed and denounced by some party members. [7]
He then founded and is now the chairman of Third Side,a centrist party in Hong Kong.
In 2021,he won a seat in 2021 Hong Kong Election Committee Subsector elections and 2021 Hong Kong legislative election in Social Welfare constituency,making him the only non-Pro-Beijing Legislative Council member in this term.
On 16 February 2022,Tik,along with the other 89 members of the Legislative Council,made a statement of gratitude to Chinese Communist Party general secretary Xi Jinping for his "guidance" in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in Hong Kong. [8] [9]
In July 2022,Tik attended a seminar to "learn and promote" the spirit of Xi Jinping's important speech. [10]
Lau Wong-fat,GBM,GBS,OBE,JP was a Hong Kong businessman and politician. He had been the long-time chairman of the Rural Council,the most powerful organ representing the interests of the New Territories indigenous inhabitants from 1980 to 2015. The Progressive Hong Kong Society was a political group in Hong Kong. It was established on 14 February 1985 by the then Executive and Legislative Council member Maria Tam. The party is considered conservative and pro-Beijing,in contrast to the pro-democracy forces which rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 90s.

The 2021 Hong Kong Legislative Council election was a general election held on 19 December 2021 for the 7th Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Under the drastic Beijing-imposed electoral overhaul,the total number of seats was increased from 70 to 90 seats,with the directly elected geographical constituencies (GCs) reduced from 35 to 20 seats,the trade-based indirectly elected functional constituencies (FCs) staying at 30,and the additional 40 seats being elected by the 1,500-member Election Committee.

The Seventh Legislative Council of Hong Kong is the current meeting of the legislative branch of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Nelson Lam Chi-yuen,is a Hong Kong accountant and politician who is Director of Audit. To take up the role,from 1 July 2022,he resigned as a Legislative Councillor in the Election Committee constituency (ECC) after less than six months in office. The ECC was then newly created under the electoral overhaul imposed by Beijing.
Jiang Zemin,the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from 1989 to 2002,and the president of the People's Republic of China from 1993 to 2003,died on 30 November 2022,at the age of 96,in Shanghai. According to Xinhua News Agency,he died at 12:13 local time,from leukemia and multiple organ failures. Following a private funeral at PLA General Hospital and cremation at Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery,a state funeral for Jiang was held at the Great Hall of the People the next day on 6 December 2022. It was the first major state funeral held in China since 1997 when Deng Xiaoping died.
